IFO race - Palm Beach International Raceway - 2/22/09

The first Florida event for Import Face-Off on January 25th at Gainesville Raceway was a huge success, so Palm Beach has been added to the 2009 schedule. Hopefully it is also a success and IFO can return year after year like other locations (schedule below) some of which have been going on for 9 years straight! Here's the info for the Palm Beach event...

NOS Energy Drink's IMPORT FACE-OFF will be in the Palm Beach area on Sunday, February 22nd from 10am to 5pm at Palm Beach International Raceway (formerly Moroso Motorsports Park) in Jupiter, Florida. $6000+ in cash and trophies will be awarded to car show and race contestants. Activities will include: car/truck/bike show, 1/4 mile drag racing, $400 Hot Body contest (ladies, call 225-247-7223 to register), Usaci Stereo crank it up contest, burnout contest, DJs, vendors, giveaways, etc. Group discounts are given to car clubs and FREE competition vouchers are given to contestants who travel from 200+ miles away (must preregister to receive free pass/discounts). COMPETITION DRAG CLASSES AND PAYOUTS
SFWD Quick 8 $1200 presented by S.P.E.C. (FWD 4 cyl only, slicks and open exhaust OK)
Street Class Quick 8 $1000 by Forced Performance (FWD, RWD, or AWD 4/6 cyl or rotary only, DOT tires and muffler required)
All Motor Quick 4 by Hybrid Racing $500 (F/R/AWD 4/6 cyl or rotary, n/a engines only, slicks OK for FWD only, open exhaust OK)
Outlaw Quick 4 $500 (any import or domestic sport compact body/engine)
Bracket 14.99 and Faster $200 presented by Central Performance (any import or domestic sport compact)
Bracket 15.00 and Slower $200 (any import or domestic sport compact)
Motorcycle Bracket $200 (any motorcycle of import origin)
*full fields required for full payout. Full = 8 cars for Quick 8 classes, 4 cars for Quick 4 classes.

EVENT PRICES:
Spectator $15 with flier (reg $17) ok to print flier below off computer
Test and Tune Racer $20 (open to any make/model)
Competition Racer $30 (imports/sport compacts only)
Car show entry $25 ($20 with group discount, must preregister to receive)

We need help passing out fliers. If anyone would like to help, please email your name and mailing address to hybridentertainment78@yahoo.com Promoters are assigned a number and are paid on commission, $2 for every flier that comes in with your number on it. Spectators bring in the fliers because of the $2 off admission coupon. Checks are mailed out within a week after the event. The program pays well if you get enough fliers out. There are successful, repeat promoters every year at every location.

So now I want to go to this but no matter what I try to do I can't convince Darin to go! Sucks. I just want to run my damn car..haha.
Anyone know how strict PBIR is as far as safetly requirements? Id hate to drive all the way there and not be allowed to run.

Jess cant say if the track is real strick or not, however my car without a chute went 149 and they didnt say anyting to me. Its a fun time just dont try to run 2 classes like we allways do, thats when things are missed like gas in the tank...

G/L and I hope you make it out to a IFO event...

lets just say they didn't like it when we ran our Gallardo TT.... with stock interior.
and the track is holy ground to them... which is ok I guess because I think its one slab $$$$$$$!!!

I need to find out if there will be room to land...(H)

Now some videos. Again, not much.

Here's one of me in my sc300. I didnt launch the car because it was my 1st time running it at the track. It's a stock 1jz. Stock exhaust and intercooler. Just an HKS intake and ACT clutch. I just rolled off the line. I ran a 14.416@98.71mph with a 60' of 2.354 seconds. The supra ran a 11.457@120.53mph.

It was great, one of the models had a malfunction with her top. She did not know it for about a minute. the crowd was going crazy and she just thought she was all that not realizing one of her tig olez was popped out. You missed it man.
Anyone get any video of that??

In all seriousness it was a good event, the mkiv RHD drag supra broke so that was upsetting, lost five bucks on that race. lol
