Tanabe Medalion Touring for MKIII Supra
I am trying to help a friend out who is not on the forums.
He is interested in the Medalion touring exhaust, but he would like some reviews from actual people that have used, installed, and driven on this exhaust. What is the general opinion on quality, and power gains that can be seen as far as modified cars go? He has a boost controller, intake, and BPU modifications so far. ![]() http://www.tanabe-usa.com/touringmedalion.asp?id=7 (PS: I work for tanabe/SSR as well, but i am looking for unbiased opinions to provide him on the exhaust with the BPU'ish modifications he has. We test/R&D cars all bone stock so that won't help him). This post is NOT designed to promote our products, if moderators deem so, please feel free to remove. So please post up your thoughts, and any constructive criticism is welcome. Thanks

As far as quality.. I had a Tanabe exhaust on my EF Civic and I loved it. Perfect bolt on, had it for 2 years and no problems with rust.
I don't know about the MK3 application.

I had the Hyper Medallion. Fit great, sounded great, had great quality. If I ever buy another MKIII I'd probably go with the same exhaust.

i never drove the car with the stock exhaust so i can't say what i gained from it, but it's definitely a good exhaust for someone who doesn't want something too loud and it sounds very smooth
i'm actually considering trading it for something a little louder though http://videos.streetfire.net/video/1...ust_641516.htm my plugs weren't gapped right when i made this video so i couldn't rev past 6800 or so |

I had it on my car for a few months before selling it for a Nur Spec because the Tanabe was just too quiet. Now granted I has this exhaust about 7 years ago now. I think it was early or mid 2002 when I had it.
Quality is great, but unfortunately when it went on, the canister did not sit parallel to the ground. Being as its an ellipse shape, ideally I'd want it to be somewhat parallel to the ground. The canister sat in a very odd and cocked position. I just lived with it, but when I traded for the Nur Spec, the new owner went and had it cut and welded up correctly. Again could be just an isolated problem with fitment, but that's my experience with it. Sounded great at WOT, but far too quiet otherwise.

Super quiet at idle, sounds good at WOT. I'm sick and tired of being deaf from driving. I love it.

Great reviews guys, I also have this at the top of my list for an exhaust. Quiet at idle is great, I will be getting this to match up to the new JZ motor
