Warning for all prospective European buyers: as a fellow European I can pretty much vouch that all US spec supras on this website are scams:

    http://www.mobile.de

You can recognize them because they have turn indicators on the side and the euro spec don't. The ads are usually copy/pastes from the real owners' mod listings which are cut off abruptly because they exceed the max. characters perad. You get the standard "I need 2000$ for shipping" reply when mailing them.

Not a link, but not only are many ads scams, sellers are not immune either. I had listed my M3 for an asking price of $52500. I recieved an email offering $52300, which I found suspicious, so I replied and asked what the terms were and got this email:
    In a message dated 1/11/2005 5:56:26 P.M. Mountain
    Standard Time,
    [email protected] writes:
    HELLO,
    Thanks for your mail.
Due to time constraint on the fact that we are
running short of time, actually my client want to use
the vehicle as a birthday gift to his wife. I am
delighted to tell you that he has commended your
vehicle and he has instructed me to carry on with
this transaction, he also instructed me to inform
you that payment will get to you in a cashier check of
$61800 which is a refund payment of a cancelled
order earlier made by my client. Due to company policy this
check has to be made out in this amount to you, because company policy only allows a refund payment
    on one cashier cheque.
So you are required to deduct the cost of your vehicle $52300 when payment gets to you and refund balance $9500 to the
shipper for him to be able to offset shipping & tax charges, and other cosmetic repair costs.
After payment has reached you and balance sent to shipper, the shipper's agent will come for pick up of vehicle & signing of title papers, handle some cosmetic touches if any and drive
to a prepaid shipper to be shipped to my customer. Confirm this and forward your Names, Address and Phone number for payment to be made to you as soon as possible.
    Best regards

Please post up decent "scam" auctions up next time. The first one the link is dead, so I can't say. The 2nd one looks legit. The 3rd and 4th one IS legit, if only you look at the seller. It's Jeremy.

This can't be real. This is the 6300 mile '97 that was for sale recently but the seller took it off the market.

Some idiot is selling it for 'just' $8000 on ebay:

If you notice in the last two with the white supra, one picture is of a white one w/ wing and the other is the same picture without the wing. WTF is up with that if they are real auctions?

Yes they are legit. Look at the rims, they are different. The angle is different. Go to SpeedForSale.com and see them both in more detail.

I've been e-mailing this guy.. he said his son had a heart attack and needs surgery and I'm about to make a flight up to NJ to see the car myself.

    http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...ist=988#vdptop

Anyone familiar with it? 7k for an IJM that's BONE STOCK is pretty.. fishy.. and I don't want to waste my time if I'm flying up there for a ghost.

Edit: Okay now I'm sure it is a scam. Here are the e-mails, as follows:

    Lime Green B18 <[email protected]> wrote:
Hey, I was on Autotrader looking for a TT Supra for sale when I saw your
IJM.. My only question is, that HAS to be a typo in the price, right? If
that thing runs and you are asking 7k for it I'll fly up there TOMORROW.
Also, are you on SupraForums by chance? My name is ThisIsHavoc there,
formerly GirlWithTheNOS - just curious as it's a pretty good place for
    references pertaining to buyers/sellers.

Anyways, please get back to me.

    Kristene

    He replies:

    Hello,
I'm from Belle Mead, NJ and the car is there in my garage.Currently I'm in United Kingdom where I'm staying with my son and his wife.My son had a heart attack and needs a triple bypass, and this is why I decided to move here with my wife to help his wife to take care of him.He may not make it after operation so I have to stay here.I want to sell the car because I don't want it here.If you are really interested to buy the car(the total price is $6900,this price includes shipping and insurance),I will come back in US no longer than two days,so we be able to close the deal.So if you are serious intrested please let me know,we will discuse the payment options and may be we can get to a deal!
    Waiting for your reply.
    Have a nice day!

    To which I reply:

I am sorry to hear about your son. If you really want only 7 grand USD for
it.. Next week I am finalizing an insurance settlement from a bike accident,
and I will be going to my bank to pick up the check. I can check flight
times and see when a good time to take a weekend up to NJ is. Do you have
any more pictures of the car?

    And he says:

    Hello,
I would like to use Square Trade like a 3rd party for the deposit.
Square Trade is a affiliated company of AutoTrader. They develop the program Safe Harbour -Fraud Protection.I am a seal member and that's mean I am backed up for all my auctions on AutoTrader.I pay them fees for that!
    Look how they work:
1.I will contact them , and I will tell about this deal.
2.They will send us mail forms (the forms will be from customer support team) for you about payment.
3.Those forms must be filled by every part of this deal(me and you) with infos that they required.
    4.We must submit the forms.
5.After you will inspect the Toyota Supra, Square Trade will send me the payment infos and I shall pick up the money.
    This means a 3rd party.
If you want to go on with this deal , mail me asap and I will require those forms right now.
As soon as i receive these informations from you i will forward them to Square Trade along with the rest of the details in order for them to open a case regarding our deal. After you receive
the notification from Square Trade please give me an email and confirm me if we have a deal in order for me to make a reservation to come back in US and meet you to close our deal.
    Regards and hear you asap!

I understand not wanting to fly out here and waste money if a buyer decides the car is undesirable, but I don't drop money on a car before I see it. I do cash/certified check up front. Something about his typing is bothering me now.. can ANYONE vouch for this guy? 7k for a one-owner dealer-sticker Imperial Jade Mica.. family problems or not he could fetch TWICE that EASILY.

Update: After the guy tells me he will give me a Carfax AFTER I make the deposit I check on my own via someone here at SF.. This guy is so full of it, it's not even funny. When I e-mailed him back to tell him that I was on to him, there was no reply.

    Asshole.
