my car needs bushings bad and I've decided to go with polys of course. My friend picked up a full set for his 300ZX for $165 shipped! Are there any sets out there that anyone knows of that is in this price range? I can only find the supra sport bushings, but they are a little more than I would like to pay. Some other thread was talking about Whiteline--did they make a kit? I have looked at a couple of other brands (MSA and Prothane), but neither make a kit for the mkIII supra. If anyone knows of another brand please let me know.

Consider yourself lucky that we even HAVE two options. A couple years back there were no options at all, nada. I am extremely grateful to MrBoost and Geoff for putting forth the effort to get a set of bushings made.

I'm not ungrateful, just poor. I'll save and probably buy the ss polys. I just can't believe that there is so much more demand for the 300ZX and the MR2 than the Supra. Are the mkiii's that much more rare or did they just luck out? It's okay--supras are still kick ass.

that many fewer people into handling with mk3's. You see 300ZX's and Mr2's on road courses all the time, I never see another mk3...

The SS poly kit is a GREAT kit for the money. It's quite complete. In fact it will replace all but 4 bushings on your car. Those 4 are the 2 bushings that are on each of the rear axle carriers, two per side, 4 total. The kit is an awesome setup.

My project currently is to remove the required pieces from my parts car. I am going to have them sandblasted and powdercoated black, then install the new bushings. I plan to document the entire process for the SF. I am going to begin next weekend after I install my new dash.

I think those are the bushes that have gone floppy on mine!! Is it possible to buy these pieces from Toyota? We are talking about the rear subframe bushes, right?

No they are the axle carrier bushings. One connects the rear lower control arm to the axle carrier, the other connects the strut rod to the axle carrier. Here's the thing. Toyota does sell them, they're about $26 new a piece. They ARE DISCONTINUED, only remaining national inventory. I bought two complete sets just in case. If you plan to upgrade I would advise that you buy a set now before they're all gone.

I can post part numbers and pics of them if you'd like.

Hams, that would be excellent if you could post those pics, I think they're exactly the ones I'm after. Trying to explain what they are to my local Toyota parts desk monkey is going to be a challenge though so part numbers would be cool :D

Here is a pic from the TSRM on the Axle Carrier:

Pay close attention to the bushings on the axle carrier. There are two. These are the two that are not included in the SS kit that you need to buy from Toyota. Also, Since you have to break the rear carrier down to get those bushings out, you might as well replace the rear bearing as well... Preventative maintenance is a great thing, especially if means you only have to tear that down only once... I don't think you'd want to do that more than once :)

I will take pics of the actual SS kit I have and the new Toyota Bushings, record their part numbers, and post them tommorow for you guys.

I managed to replace those two bushings in the wheel hubs, with everything still on the car.

Using a dremel, I cut out the old bushings. Then I put the new replacement units in the freezer over-night. Using an electric heat gun, I heated up the wheel hub mounts and gently tapped the new bushings into place with a socket.

I couldn't believe it worked so well. Before that I removed the entire knuckle and used a huge hydraulic press to change them. That was heck of a lot more work.

Just an idea.

I can't see your pic Hams but I presume you mean these ones?

It seems odd that the suprasport one doesn't replace them, perhaps they would bind up if they were made in poly or something, no big deal I guess. Thanks for the install tip Shawn. I definitely have some soggy bushings in the back somewhere, I am thinking it mude make sense to change as many as possible with lots of years and miles on the car.

I had been told that where the rear subframe bolts to the body, there were rubber bushes/isolators that sat between the two. Is this not the case? I haven't found any other reference to them but the guy that told me is rarely wrong on Supra related stuff.
