hi guys

where can i source a jz.glide bell housing from?

im assuming you guys run a 6 cyl glide?

any help would be appreciated

shane

Definitely get the 8 cyl glide (1.76 gear) as it is much stronger than the 6 cyl (1.82) version.

I'm not sure what you are asking about the bellhousing.

i notice titan run a 1.82 first gear in there powerglide, well it was stated they did in an interview with australian magazine fast fours back in 2003 when they were running in the 8.6 region with a t88 turbo.

im in australia by the way.

most people in australia get the 6cyl case as it has a removeable bellhousing while the v8 case doesnt and you will need an adaptor

shane, just use a 6cyl box with v8 internals and get an adaptor plate made up
i think ive seen that done and the std 2j auto bellhousing used
ive had a dellow bellhousing but a few people dont rate them altho it looked fine to me

cheers

Wow, you guys must have different stuff there than we do. The 6-cyl case here doesn't have a removable bellhousing (well, unless you saw it off).

Yep, all our 6cyl glides have a removeable bellhousing and
the v8 don 't. Dellow and someone else make them, not to hard to find here
Ask Roccos aswell s they have the 2j-glide in there rx7
cheers

Interesting, do you have any pics of the 6-cyl glide from Aus? Around here we just saw off the V8 bellhousing and bolt on a aftermarket bellhousing like this one from Ultrabell. (this is a TH350, but you do the same thing on the PG.

Here is what you need. I bought it on ebay to suit the 1uz-fe engine as I was going to use that. I tried the 2j bellhousing on it and it fits. Not sure how big of a converter I can fit, but anyway it all bolts up. No Idea who makes them, but they are machined beautifully. Castlemaine rodshop and dellow adaptors too.

i ended up getting a jz/powerglide bell housing from dellow. it was about $450 AUD.

the glide is getting built now, should have bak int he car early jan with any luck

Good stuff. Do you have any pics of the glide from the pump side? I'm curious if the pump is any different than what we have over here. Also, pics of the chevy bellhousing?

I'll try and get some over the next few days. They are very similar to the v8 boxes, as the 6 cylinder ones can be built to take the same amount of power. In original form, I don't think they are quite as strong. The ones with the removable bellhousings are from our 6 cylinder cars, the V8 boxes with chevy pattern are not removable.

The bellhousing in the first photo is the orignal 6 cylinder bellhousing.

BIGPSI: that's what I was going to do, but I struck a bit of luck and this setup all bolted together. You getting a custom converter made with the original jz flexplate?

yes, MV automatics in SA who have looked after me for years are getting a custom converter made for me.

he has quite a few jz/powerglide customers in thailand so he has a fair bit of data on them.
