I have searched for a while now and found nothing difinitive so hopefully someone here can help. My problem is the oil seals in the turbo. More specifically they keep blowing (massive quantities of oil in DP and intercooler pipes along with large clouds of smoke). I sent it to Performance Techniques to rebuild and they put in an oversized bearing, new oil seals, and ceramic coated the exhaust housing. When I got the turbo back I primed it for a few minutes and then started the car. I had no problems with burning oil for about 300 miles and then it started burning oil during long periods of deceleration (10- 40 seconds). There was no unusuall sounds coming from the turbo. Being stupid I checked compression, spark plugs, and leak down test, but not turbo, and found nothing. A few miles later the seals completely went and it started smoking like a train again. I sent it back to PT and told them the story and they said they would see what they could do. They replaced the seals and I got the turbo back a few days later and put it back on the car. I changed the oil and filter then I primed it again and started the car. There was no evidence of burning oil after about 1min of idiling, so I decided to take it for a test drive. It took less than 30 seconds of non-boosting driving for the car to start smoking like a train again. Now there is a whining sound any time the turbo starts to spool up. My oil pressure has never gone over 80, even during cold starts, I always let it idle for about 2 mins after driving (more if I drove it hard), and change the oil regularly with 20W-50. I also have a catch can installed but it is vented. If it matters the turbo is upgraded to 57T. Does anyone have ideas on why my seals keep blowing?If I am doing anything wrong please let me know.
