IF you guys had $100,000 to buy and tune a MKIV to be a daily driver and street legal...

How would you do it?
Since you live in Cali and you want street legal there would be no engine mods. You would be spending 100k on body work, interior, and audio.

giant freaking rocket molded into the rear of the car from the backseat through the trunk.

Btw you can install a turbo kit and keep your emission stuff in tact. you don't have to remove it you know.

How old are you OP?

Everyone from california knows that turbo mods are illegal 99% of the time, and Even an exhaust requires a carb certified sticker, and you still get luck of the draw on getting pulled over with it depending on how a cop feels at the time.

I'm 19.
After reading this i feel absolutely retarded.

I don't know what some people are thinking in here.. 100k isn't a unreasonable budget at all if you are going for the baddest of bad street supras. You just missed out on buying the perfect car, my buddy picked up SW's old black car for 69k and it is mighty nice. I could easily spend 100k when you think about buying a really clean car for around 30k... A real nice set of wheels and tires like adv1's will cost you 8k or so... I'd also have a nice set of drag wheels which will cost you another 3k or so with rubber... a good 3.4 stroker motor... intake mani... hell the turbo setup is several more thousand... the standalone... fuel setup... i've discovered it all adds up quickly.

Biggest problem with sinking that kind of cash into a MK1V IMO is that you will have a 100k car that you will only be able to sell for maybe 40-50k.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

100k is an unreasonable budget for the most part because you can purchase a 9/10 built supra or a 10/10 stock mint supra for 30-50k. There wouldnt be much to justify another 50k in that aside from shits and giggles, or you are very well off and the supra is your favorite car.
I just looked up MYKARISVICIOUS for sale thread and he was selling his pretty much fully built race car(in my opinion) for 45k. Aside from a few interior updates(get rid of plastic trim and get wrapped in leather 5-10k being generous) I dont see where the other 45k needs to be spent. Again people have different goals and ideas, but most 3.4l stroker kits etc are a bit over kill considering most people can make 1000hp on mostly stock internals on a TT supra with a 6spd. Granted myself personally would shoot for a very responsive 500-600hp like im doing with my own car.

theres the problem :/

see im getting sponsored to make a daily driver supra that is street legal (smoggable) and that has to be absolutely clean.

it also has to be secure so that i can put it in a ghetto and it still would never get jacked

Who is honestly going to give you money to build a car from stock when they can sponsor a car already built? And how do you honestly plan to park this in the ghetto without people stealing rims stereo or the whole car? You have a 30k for the car plus say 50k to mod but live in the ghetto and you are 19. Ok.

Not everyone wants to buy a built car, some people actually enjoy building their own car. You tell me Mr expert, what does a well built 3.4 motor complete with head etc, Motec, complete fuel system capable of 1500, turbo setup, and drivetrain including rearend cost?

IDK. 12-15k for motor with the works. 5-8k ecu and tune. 5k setup. Do you need a trans? Rear end is only another K or so. Fuel systems are cheap. Everything else is really a drop in the bucket. What costs is the motor, turbo, and sensor setup and tune. I suppose it adds up tho. Between wheels, brakes, suspension, and tires prolly another 10k.

I spent over 100k on my car all said and done. I re-did everything though. I also have OCD X10000. Even if i were to sell the car, id be lucky to get 65k for it. You will never get back what you put into a car, remember that.

No need to get touchy, I myself wouldnt buy a built car but would try to do as much of the work myself(hell if I had 100k to spend on a supra i'd imagine I have a job with a lot of free time if I wanted it, certainly time to build the supra whenever I felt like adding something) I have done most of the work on my own supra with a friends help. I am now saving up to get a full repaint/ exterior rehaul.
But Aside from the 3.4 kit which I havent really looked into. I could easily have a powerful/godly engine with 10-15k tops (Assuming you started with a TT 6spd engine/trans) Most people upgrade supra parts out of caution not necessity. Especially if you look in our for sale section there are great deals on parts everyday. So you can really have an amazing engine for alot less money then maybe 5-10 years ago.

Well I don't think it would be hard to spend $100k on a MKIV. It just wouldn't be NECESSARY.
I'm sure if you have 100k straight up to spend, you can create a budget to create a really nice build for much less.

If I had arab money, just blow $100k straight into a MKIV (If I didn't have one yet).

Buy a 97/98 TT 6-speed $30-35k
full widebody Ridox body kit with CF accents
full RPS paint job
800/900whp

Some exhaust yes. Turbo kit, no. Emission controls can not be removed/modified.
Damn you said what I was going to say. To add to this, if I'm not mistaken certain FMICs are CARB legal as well. I'm not sure if things like HKS intake filters are legal or not though, I've never looked into that.
