Today's project was to put in some interior pimp lights. (its my 17 year olds car, LOL)
Piece of cake. (mostly since I've already done a radio replacement & the dash has been off / on like 10 times). Also - $40 bucks. Cheapest thing we've done to the car yet.
System plugs in via USB & comes with a nice adaptor, so only real issue was that we'd already deleted the stock cig lighter & swapped to a usb extension for carplay. (his radio only has carplay in the BACK of the radio's wired usb connection, not on the front usb connection - infuriating). Simple enough - just bought a wired usb adapter & wired in to the accessory & ground wires in the radio connection. Plugged it in, shoved all the wires back behind the radio & set the lights & tucked the wires. All done. Way cleaner that way anyway.
Works well. We'll see how long it lasts. System has bluetooth & runs off an app. (also has one of those sketchy confusing chinese remotes - didn't even take that out of the box) Quick trip to the store to buy some way better mounting tape & all good. Even stuck to the cloth on the underside of the seats. Happy Kiddo.
Products:
Lights | usb power / hardwire behind dash | USB adaptor for lighter delete - wired to radio
(oh - and if anyone's silly enough to do this as well - just fyi, the wired USB adapter's GOLD tab is ground. Not the hot like I'd expected. That created a sad moment where nothing worked until my brain kicked in & I just swapped the two connections...)
