Well I took my 93.5 TT BPU 6spd to the track for the firt time and I pulled a 12.95 @115MPH with a 2.45 60'

What do you guys think the car could pull if I used some Nitto drag radials?

Well if you could cut a 1.8 60 ft that would decrease your time by .65,probably more. With a 60 ft time as bad as yours,Im surprised by that mile-n-hour.Seems your car may have a boost leak. What was your 1/8th time and trap.By comparison,Ive run an [email protected] in the eighth with a 1.9 60ft on 555R's

Joe
that is a really good time for your 60 foot. dont worry about the mph, once you get a better 60ft then you mph will get higher too, dont forget to reset the ecu, or run race gas if you can
Thats a pretty good time for your first time out. You should be able to so quite a bit better on the 60' time even with street tires. That's a good time considering the MPH and 60' time, you must have hooked well after the 60' mark.

I've had 60' times in a single night that ranged from 1.9 to 2.4, yet my trap speeds varied less than 1 MPH.

Just my experience, but I have yet to see 60' times have any real effect on trap speed.

That is a good time for the 60'.

Something I failed to ask you was what is the elevation of the track.Your mph seemed low for BPU but it could be the elevation.Either way, your times are great and can only get better with practice.Keep representin' .

really? when i was bpu, my higher 60fts would have really shitty mph, like 113 or so..but when i cut a 60ft closer to 2 (which is good for me) my mph would shoot up to 117

Ok here is my best run:

RT - .727

60'- 2.336

330- 5.911

1/8 Mi- 8.657

MPH for 1/8 mi 91.72

1000 11.005

1/4 mile 12.957

MPH 115.71

I had about 7-9 gallons of 92 octain and then I added 4 gal of race gas at the track and went out and drove around for a while to mix it in, and then I reset the ECU by takeing the negative terminal off the batt for about 20 min.

The elevation atthe tarck is about 730 ft

For wheels and tires I was running 18" Volk LE37's with 275-40-18 NItto 555's Not the 555R's

Nearly 116 mph for a straight BPU car is decent, your car is running well.

TTbadboy, what do you trap at that you would question 115.7?

(You are a little on slow side at the 1/8th yourself :))
G
I always thought my car should trap higher than 90 as well thats why I mentioned the leak.I believe I may have one myself. However ,my car has stock exhaust on it and it could be from that.I wasnt trying to scare you on your mph Ive just heard that BPU cars should trap 118 or so.My experience is just the opposite of some of you. When I cut a good 60ft,I trap lower. When I spin,I trap higher.

118 out of a straight BPU car...at a good track with good weather, sure. Out here in Cali we typically run at tracks over 1000ft, and rarely have the high barometric pressure reading the east coast tracks get, so it's not as common.

I also wonder how much difference pulling the passenger headlight makes. I have never done it. I ran 116.8 recently, think pulling the light would have been worth 1.2 mph?

115 or so is not bad at all for a BPU car.

Lagtime,
What did you run in the eighth when you trapped 116 in the quarter.I dont have a 1/4 mile track within an hour so Id like something to compare to.I always heard that pulling the headlight was good for at least 1 mph.Ive thought of trying it but I dont know how much effect it would have in the eighth.

92.3 in the 1/8th, 116.8 in the 1/4.

I try to run my car 100% as street driven, so I have not yet pulled the headlight. I need to try it, though.

I thought the same thing as u Chip. One night I went racing with the Corvette guys and I was trapping about 116 on a slippery track. I pulled my headlight and used the Revlimiter the next night when I was by myself and my traps went to 124. I usually see a gain of 3-5 mph pulling the headlight.
Everyone knows how turbocharged cars love cool air.
Instead of pulling the headlight, has anyone tried routing a make-shift ram air system from the front right air dam? Or, what about a custom hood scoop (Silver Orchid) that directly "feeds" the intake?
It would be nice to have that "pulled headlight power" all the time!!
Any thoughts????

Oh i'm also running parallel

Well, what about the mod that cuts the hole in the headlight cover to allow for the air to enter? I have seen this on a few Supras, but not many. Basically, it is a hole in the glass/plastic (not sure what the cover is made out of) that routes by the high beams I do believe. Nice setup.

Also, a 115mph trap isn't bad at all for a BPU. Hell, there was a BPU running with me down here in middle GA (and it was 92+deg that day) that could only hit around 114mph on race gas. I find that my car is around 5-6mph behind a BPU Supra's in the 1/4. So 115mph is damn good.
