Hey guys, I've been around the forums for a bit, but haven't really shown myself for the past 8 months since I have the car. Maintenance/ others done:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Other parts in car(Done by previous owners):
Blitz dual solenoid boost controller

Pics:

The car wasnt really taken care of by the previous owners. Not trying to badmouth them, but I suspected the car to be sitting outside for quite a bit since I noticed the paint fading on the roof. That lead me to realize soon, that the car was just sprayed over when they installed the Blitz bodykit. Knowing it'll be some responsiblity on my hands, I still have absolutely nothing to complain about. But soon I started the teardown of the body around march..

Image

Heres the rear end after the bodykits off besides the side skirts. I'm glad that the bodykits taken care of. Since the whole bodykit was riveted on, what would you guys suggest doing about those rivet holes other than bondo? I'll grab more pics of the rear end once the stock wings on w/ the lip along with the side markers. But for now, I'll temporarily leave it wingless..

Heres the result after I de lined my headlights not too long ago... Being my 1st time taking a shot at it, it took me about a month and a half. I spent a majority of the time during school to get them done. It didnt turn out too bad, but could be better. Its not exactly something I'd enjoy doing again, but Im glad its over with for now..

Sorry, the pictures are huge right now, but I'll edit, and repost, and post more pics once I know how to really resize photobucket pics. I know I still have alot to learn and theres gonna be mistakes and obstacles as I progress. But I believe in the supra community and either way, your opinions would be appreciated. Thanks everyone :)

nice build, I like the transformation already. Looks like you are taking care of the supra rather than the formal owner. I am insterested in seeing how this comes out.

#3 ·
Thank you. I don't totally blame the previous owner since he just didn't have time for it, but whoever the owner before him did all of this, obviously could've done better. I felt bad for the car. But don't expect too much of me for now, it's gonna take some time..

#4 ·
dude, don't just slap bondo over those holes. you gotta weld those holes shut. then grind the welds down. then u can lay bondo over them. if u just fill them in with bondo the bondo will crack and "shrink" showing the holes. believe me i do body work 4 a living.

#6 ·
Ohh, Im wasnt talking about putting bondos over the holes, I was asking if theres any way to fix them without it. I was actually wondering if they can be welded up instead, would I still need bondo? The blitz side skirts are full of rivets, so I left it alone for now... I'm planning on getting Ridox side skirts in the long run, would I have to rivet those on too?

Excellent! Easy to see your gonna treat this supra very well.

You're one hell of a lucky kid! TT HT 6SPD...well fuck me sideways lol. Take car of it and enjoy it.
Thank you guys, I definitely will. Well, I'm planning on a clean build, so I hope you guys dont mind if I share whats a part of my plans for it on the long run...

Modellista CF front lip
Modellista CF trunk lip w/ stock wing
Ridox front fenders.... (Would it still go with the stock bumpers?)
Ridox side skirts w/ cf insert
Ridox rear spats possibly
Work Meister S1 3piece wheels

haha... I really appreciate that I have this car already, but before I back off before this turns into a dreamers thread, I'd still like to know whats other peoples opinion on this combination? It's definitely expensive, but I plan to work my way up... I'll be heading to clark college of vancouver during this upcoming fall, so the builds gonna take awhile. I definitely want this to be done right, so I don't mind the time its gonna take to get it done..

Looks like you will do a quality job, but not really seeing what's up with all these builds with "kids" advertising their ages

I say kids loosely, because I'm not up in my years yet either, but "16 yr old build up" "17yr olds TT 6spd Hardtop Supra"

nah, u gotta use bondo to finish the body work the car. but, the trick is to use as little as possible. u should only need a finger nail amount of bondo per hole if u do yur metal work correctly. n use a rubber sanding block when u sand the bondo. just to make sure yur body work is perfectly straight

#17 ·
If you really want to clean it up the right way?

Then the best thing you can do at this point is return the body back to stock to make it look 10x better.

#20 ·
I agree with all who said returning to stock is the way to go. Not only does it look best (especially with a good set of wheels like the ones you listed), but you'll also be able to spend the money you save where it matters; in the mechanics of the car.

Regardless of what you decide, i'm confident the car found a good home, good luck!

Lets say I got lucky.. Too lucky  The car wasnt bought with ease, let alone running into a somewhat local hardtop this soon. It took at least a year, but I was expecting much longer. Consider me a very spoiled child... But I cant help it, I took my chance to go with it, and now I appreciate it to the point I find myself rather obsessed with it. I've always backed down the chances of going with new cars and trusted Mkiv supras. But thanks for all the kind words everyone, going back to stock body is definitely the priority at the moment, but I was sharing my ideas I suppose. Note that I dont think I deserve any credits for the Supra being under my possession, but I'll be keeping up my best to make sure I'll be a worthy owner of the car in the long run.

#26 ·
Oh man, I sure got caught on that one
Props on your restoration though, Im glad to hear its pretty much done ;)

very sweet man... like how your taking care of her and making her better!!!
Thanks, I just hope to manage to pull off other interesting things like de lining my headlights on the long run too

Well guys, today I was at Vip performance bbq in Portland. I was in a rush to get things back together just for today, so that explains the bumper not lined up well... I just received my Max airbox also, but I cant get it to work with the Apexi filter also because that hard pipe for it isnt long enough for the coupler to match with the MAF. What would you guys suggest using to have the apexi fit and straight in the box? Thanks again everyone..

You don't have a mass air flow sensor on your engine.

:nervous:

Buttt....... nice car

#28 ·
if its just not long enough you can buy a longer coupler from any autoparts store, you can also buy a slight bend shaped coupler if its not long enough AND on a different angle.

nice project btw. ive been lurking it :)

piece by piece, day by day thats how we roll. im glad you got rid of that old bodykit.. cuz damn that thing was an abomination. my mom taught me not to hate but i must say i hate that old wing lol

#29 ·
Thanks. I'll definitely take a look around for one, that just saved me alot of headaches from thinking. I agree, that bodykit was ridiculous. The only picture I have of that wing that might've even looked near decent was this old one with my buddie in this pic

Well, today I attended my graduation and grabbed my diploma. I was rather nervous up there, but before I went, I grabbed a pic of my airbox after I got my new coupler in. Looks pretty decent, I think it'll be very helpful later on since it'll be a STU setup in the long run :)

If you ask me don't get a CF front lip. You'll kill that thing in no time. Get the normal urethane lips, or, if you are going with the Ridox kit on the rest of the car, just get a Ridox front. Hell the Ridox front looks good with the rest of the body stock as well.

And on your earlier question, you don't have to ever rivet shit on your car! For now, just get a front lip and have the side and rear plastics painted. Spend the money on other more important stuff. Like the bodywork to fix all the bad things.

Also, if the car lowered already? Seems kind of low. If it is don't spend money on other springs and expensive Apexi shocks. If you want shocks get some Bilstein (preferably) or Koni shocks, not those. You can make coilovers out of them later for under $1000. Or just wait and get coilovers.

Keep OEM body, it looks best with these cars. Nice job as someone said, de-ricing this car. ;)

Duane
Thanks guys :)
Alex, The cars lowered on the Eibachs and Apexi dampers, so I'm not too worried about coilovers right now, but I was wondering if the Trd sway bars should be the next thing I should look at if its suspension. But your right, I still have alotta little things I still have to clean up, so I'll probably get on it once my C's short shifter comes in.

Nice MD lower hatch spoiler. Looks just like mine

Thanks Julio, is that upper hatch spoiler from Ridox? I like how you have the lower MD hatch spoiler with it, looks good :) And it also looks like you have the rain visors, how did you managed to get that to work with the targa? If you don't mind me asking that is, haha

Looking good, when am I going to get to see this thing in person? You can come check out my Supra (its no where close to being done though..) Oh well. Keep up the good work though!
Thanks Joe :) you'll probably see it sooner or later, I wouldnt mind if you decided you wanna drop by one day to take a look at my car either. I'll be interested to see your progress. Your Supras came a long way, it'll definitely pay off in the long run. I'm still not really getting anywhere, but we'll see how the car turns out. Oh, btw I love your Z :bigthumb:
