ok i got 2 questions?

1.) how is it than one engine can go to higher rpms than the other (i forget)

2.) and so the reason this engine is able to make this much power with such small liters is because of it's low compression, high boost, and crazy flowing head?

Damn I miss thE F1 turbo era! I have almost every F1 race recorded from '84-'98
so I guess I'll have to pull out some tapes and relive the "good ole days".

Anyone remember when Road & Track tested Teo Fabi's Benetton F1 car, which
was running the BMW turbo engine? 0-150mph in 6sec's!!!!

The throttle body on the turbo inlet was often used in high boost racing situations because the amount of boost produced would actually prevent the throttle plate from closing....kind of a runaway throttle situation.

The throttle body was placed on the turbo inlet on production cars (GM, Ford, Chrysler and others) so that the turbo could be BOLTED directly to the intake manifold to limit lag (obviously before intercoolers were used).

The 4 cyl 1500 bhp BMW F1 engine is a further development of the M10 engine. Older BMW E30 318i used M10 engines. The 4 cyl M3 engine (S14) that was used in the old BMW E30 M3 was also a further development of the M10 engine.

You can get much power out of the old 4 cyl M3 motors if you turbo it.

Yeah, I picked that one up at a car show, some guy was selling a ton of old classic car mags from the '70s to recent for 75 cents each, I bought about $20 worth. That car trapped about 168 mph in the 1/4 mile on race (low boost).
