So I finally gathered the courage to pull apart my brand new glass headlights and paint them. I couldn't take the chrome look any more. Took my time over the past few days to paint them flat black. They are in the car right now even though I don't have pics. I will take a couple pics tomorrow the car is all dirty and needs a wash haha. I know this has been done many times before but let me know what you all think. Thanks.

I have been thinking about doing this as well except with base and clear to match the OEM black. Turned out very nice. Did you heat the entire lamp to separate the housing from the lens?

You can buy the OEM paint and with a black car I think it would look pretty good. Yeah I heated my oven to 350 degrees and baked them for about 5 minutes and pulled them apart. It wasn't too bad.

Looks great. Mine are at the body shop right now getting painted. I like the glass cover, but I wanted to lose the chrome too.

I like it, it looks real nice.

Haven't people reported bubbling of paint near the bulb? ...maybe the high beam? Are you concerned about that? Did you use some kind of higher temp paint?

I hadn't heard about that. My other painted headlights never gave me that issue so I guess I will see what happens. If something happens then I will handle it accordingly.

Btw here are pics of them installed in the Supra.

Just out of curiosity what are the little oval lenses inside the housing? I've seen them on the JDM cars over here but never really knew what they were.

Nice work man ! Looks really good and like you I was skeptical in doing this to my set so I switched over.

This would be the ultimate headlight (minus bulge) if it could be delined with the black/charcoal housing. Unfortunately, delining doe not look feasible :(

Look awesome.

Could I put my 93-96 style JDM lights in the oven too and make them clear? Sorry for the noob question just me and a buddy were thinking about this.
