Okay, if you need a oil pan assembly to get your non front sump 1JZ-GTE engine into a MKIII/MKIV Supra, all the information and parts you need is listed below.

Side note, the MKIV upper pan comes with a hole for the oil level sensor. I just had a shop weld in a block off plate b/c it's $300+ from Toyota for a sensor that you're not going to use unless you really want it.

Thanks Curt again, for everything.

Just wondering if you guys happen to know the part number for the JZ series REAR sump oil pan assembly. Do you know where I can possibly find one?

Curt, I have a friend swapping in a JDM 2jzgte into his USDM supra. Is this all the parts needed to make the oil pan fit? Is there also a oil pick up? or any parts that you personally would know of?

front sump vs rear sump

what is the run-down of front and rear sump oil-pan applications?? specifically, will a front sump 1jzgte engine fit into my 88 mkIII? (besides motor mount brackets from B.I.C.) What years used a rear sump?

thanks

just to get it clear, if i get a front sump 1jz, will i need to change the sump and pan for it to fit in my 88 mkIII?

if so, did toyota only use the rear sump in jdm 1jz mkIII's, or can I find a rear sump 1jz out of a soarer or something?

This thread is a bit confusing. The soarer, sc300, MKIII supra, and MKIV supra are all rear sump. The IS300, chaser and aristo are front sump. This thread came up in the top search results on google when searching for "1jzgte rear sump pan", so even though it's a little old it needs to have correct info in it.

Curt, I have a question. The gasket you listed, 15147-AD010 GASKET LIST 2.40 COST 1.77 X 1, is the gasket going between the upper oil pan and the oil pickup? I was told than an O-ring is supposed to go between the pan and the pick up but I don't remember removing one.

I know there is an O-ring between the block and the upper pan, but is there an O-ring between the pan and the oil pick up? I know your picture shows there was no O-ring but just wanted to make sure. This is on a 1JZ going in an 88 Supra.
