Probably just need custom motor mounts. I wouldn't be surprised if everything else is straight forward so long as the car was a 5-speed already.

What would he need custom motormounts for?
0.5 liter smaller block. I figure the width difference (if there is said difference) will be just enough to need modified motor mounts. Although I'm doubting it because that's not that much of a difference.

Why are you at Jose's place at 11:23 PM? Sleepover and camp fire songs? :kekegay: :ghey:

1jz?! pshh put a 7m in it bro :) One of a kind MKIV right there.
love it haha
Get a Clip from a Soarer and it will drop right in. Wiring will be minor.

Joe was on my laptop at the shop Adam!
been done here in socal(Long Beach). he posts here as Shitzu. cool guy.

the displacement difference is in the height of the blocks not the width. Both have a 86mm bore but the 1jz has a 71.5mm stoke and the 2j is 86mm(square bore engine).
my 1j swap into my MKIII only required splicing ~ 20 wires or so. then again, i have no hydrofan, pps, ac or cruise control.

get the diagrams for your car and find the 1j diagrams on the web archive for www.1jz-gte.us
Jose, you work wayyy too hard. But the work you produce is 2nd to none, so keep it up.

Just like he said, if you can get a Soarer clip, it should be alot easier....I used an MK3's front clip, and it pretty much dropped right in, all I had to change out was the hydro fan setup to 2j fan clutch/waterpump, electrical work was crazy!!! O yea, also had to use the soarer R154 instead of the MK3's........Like I mention in the other thread, it's very similar to a 2j swap, same rules apply, round motor mounts & rear oil pan sump......You can use the 2j N/A motor mounts and brackets......
the displacement difference is in the height of the blocks not the width.
Stroke of the crank?
so what do i need from the different cars and is a 1.5 jz easier than a complete 1 jz over haul.
Stroke of the crank?
I was responding to honestabe's post about the fitment of the block (1j vs 2j). Stroke has nothing to do with fitment in this case. I was just giving him some extra info.:blah: Thanks for making such a great informative post though.
if you wanna keep it simple stick with your w58,
you would basically keep your flywheel use a performance w58 clutch,
If its a soarer clip you will need to run your na mounts+ brackets, you will need a tt upper radiator hose, throttle cable, you can even use your 1jz heater hoses, all trans mounts, driveshaft, soarer ic pipes,ps resevior will bolt up, I finished my swap under 2k and thats with paid shipping of my engine set and new clutch and wiring. As for the wiring you will mainly need to either extend the harness and swap out the 1jz body plugs to 2jz or run the 2jzge harness and add clips for the cam sensor, map ignitor, coils, ect ect. I had my plug and play harness done by dr tweak at pheonix tunning, ran great. Best bang for your buck in my opinion. Good luck!
wow thanks heaps man
Hey Gilbert, what tranny are you running? the W58?
whats the recommended power limit for the ge gear box and whats the recommended power for r154.

i know i don't wanna leave the 1jz stock i wanna up grade to single i think and try get into the 400rwhp range if possible so cud my ge gearbox handle that just with a stronger clutch or do i really need to upgrade??
shitzu- Im running the stock w58 with a ebay clutch f1 stage 3 or something, its pretty smooth. Im keeping the car relitively stock wanna do the full 98 conversion tt brakes, suspension first.

-I've heard that the w58's hold up to 400whp, but this really makes no sense to me some people say they've broken them at 350whp or even lower, I guess it all depends on the clucth setup and your driving characteristics more than anything, if your going single i think you should go r154 they hold 600+ w/ good clutch. But if your just staying bpu w58 is good as its smother shifting into gears than the r154. I actually plan on going 6 speed sometime in the future!!!:)
