I have 89 supra with a stock 1jz. When I start the car, the idle will stay at 3k rpms or it will jump between 2.5K and 3k. It feels like its being given quite abit of throttle.

Any ideas on where to start to diagnose the problem?

Does it ever idle down or does it stay at a high idle? The obvious thing to look for at this point is vacuum leaks, and a large one at that. The first place I'd look is the large vacuum line that runs from the turbo induction pipes over to the ISC valve. It runs behind the head. Also, check your throttle cable to make sure that there is enough slack that it is actually letting the throttle blade close all the way.

LMK what you find.

The problem went away by itself, but I'll still double check the things you mentioned.

Now I just need to find out why my gauge cluster lights decided to go out, :tear:
