I have a strange knocking issue with my 1jz. It is definitely a mechanical issue some where. It is very odd because i had this engine running in my other car before putting it in this one and had no problems what so ever. It has no relation to the engine rpms and is intermittent. I am thinking that perhaps a wheel on one of my turbo's is chipped and making this noise when they spool. Oil pressure is @ 40 psi. Has anybody had a similar problem? Can someone tell me if i'm going in the right direction as to leading to the turbos for the problem?

Thanks.

Take a long screwdriver and use it as a stethescope. Put one end right on each turbo, and you'll hear inside them.

Sounds Like The Same Issue That My Buddy Had With His Srt-4, When Cold The Exhaust Wheel Was Scraping The Housing.

I'm curious as to what boost your running. My turbos don't smoke at all, and I'd like to turn up the boost a little.
