we got the 1.5j running awesome after the rebuild..........
then we noticed a rather large oil leak... we couldn't find where it was coming from at first... so for insurance purposes we pulled the engine and resealed the sump and all other seals
let it idle for a good half hour, no oil leak yay
drove for 45mins to our destination and noticed alot of oil under the car.. checked oil and was way low and say hello to rod knock

if you have an oil leak and are convinced it's not your crank seals, turbo feed, return, sump etc
check the actual sump

if you look above the stock power steering lines you will see one bolt in the sump that has silicon all round it.. it would seem over time or something that this threaded hole has broken into the sump area, oil was pouring straight out this hole, but only under load (4000rpm ish) so at idle is not easily found

so make sure this thread isn't leaking and i would suggest possibly stuffing a little bit of silicon in the hole and plug em all up with 10mm bolts so you don't end up with rod knock ;)



we've gotten quick sick of rebuilding his engine so we are now investing in a .020 2jzgte block with JE forged pistons, shotpeened rods, nascar bearings & custom rings... should last a whole lot longer LOL
but yea, Johns 1.5j will live again very soon :D

normally we use orange being that it's high temp silicon, not had a problem with it beforehand but i will check out the price at toyota for their stuff... it must be pretty good if it lasts 100k or more lol

but still... make sure there's a bolt in that hole lol

i get my stuff wholesale as well.. but ur country is a little bigger than ours and have more product moving so toyota gives you nicer prices lol.. i'll see what they wanna rip me off for it :p
