I went to the yunkyard yesterday and I came across a 7M GE with a driver door label stampped "MAR 88". I was wondering if I can use this crossmember to do the 1JZ swap or should I keep looking for a 89+ crossmember?. Thanks.

88's use the old style crossmember. Look down at it and you can see. The newer style mounts are ROUND, where the older style are a SQUARE. The new crossmember didnt show up in Supras until Feb 89...

You can also tell what the crossmember is on an 89 if the rubber part of the mount is missing.

The "slots" on the subframe that the mounts sit into are raised different heights off the subframe. On the old style subframes they are raised ~ 3 1/4"... on an 89.5+ subframe they are only raised ~2".
