sup everyone,
last time it was 1jzgte vs. 2jzge. but this time its a little different. i found a aristo clip 2jzgte auto. for the same price as a 1jzgte 5speed!! installation is not a problem. i have been going crazy over this decision for the past week. i really need help!!!! so here we go again.. and please dont talk about the 7m!!!!!! I m just looking for a decision and a little support on y.

the reason i dunt kno which one, is becuase i really want a 5 speed. but the 2jzgte is a better motor all around, but i also have some question,

i read that toyota over rates their motors, i found that out somewhere on autochannels.com if the jdm 2jzgte non vvti is at280, is the aristo also at 280 or 276(i found online i know its only 4 hp.just want right figures)

and isnt the 1jzgte also rated at 280... so...equal hp#, but different motors, dunt know.... i m really going crazy!! help me please... i want to make a decsision asap!!!!

thanx again guys!!!

What is your budget?

If you can only afford the 1j clip

BTW 2jz aristo clips typically sell for LESS then 1jz 5 speed clips. A 2Jz aristo cip requires MUCH more work and expense to get into an MA70. So the fact that they are the same price is not that special. I have seen aristo clips go for as little as $1500 shipped.

If you have a limited budget, go with the 1J clip. If you have a good budget and can swing the extra labor and parts (couple thousand more), then go 2j and never look back.

Not too many people go 1J on purpose. Most people go 1J because they can't afford a full 2JZ swap.

1J will be easier/cheaper, you can make power, and you can always go 1.5jz later.

This man speaks the truth. I was in the same situation as you, debated 1jz 5spd, 1jz auto, and you know damn well I wanted a 2jz auto real bad. After talking around, it just did not sound like a good choice. Good engine yes, but for a swap with these choices, it's a big n-o. HTH :)

An aristo motor is a whore to work with on a MKIV. Mk3 may be a tad different...but I see many wiring woes for you. I see many electrical woes in store.

I faced the same options when i get my 1jz. Ended up just doing 1jz. I wannted something real revvy, since my previous engine was a torque monster."2.6l turbo 4 banger".

Even though he said "Installation is not a problem". I still voted 1jz because the turbo's on the 2j will not fit in the ma71 chassis. Wouldn't he have to buy a single turbo kit?

So what is there to keep someone from using and Aristo 2JZ-GTE and a relatively inexpensive R154? The auto ecu obviously, but couldn't that be solved by standalone?
