Spoke to Mike at AAM (he has a 560 rwhp @ 18 psi 300GT w/ 27% drive train loss). They dynoed Autority's Porsche 993 TT after the chip mod. Results = 360 rwhp....and yes this was on a 4 wheel dyno.

993 TT w/ chip 360 rwhp @ 3400 lbs
Supra TT BPU 400 rwhp @ 3450 lbs

Who do you favor in the 1/4 with the assuming same driver and same reaction time?

sorry....3000GT, not 300GT

Supra will win w/o a doubt but it may have trouble off the line. Is that all the Porche really dyno'd w/ chip?

It would be wheel hp not RWHP because it wasn't just at the rear wheels :p
The first 1/8 mile will be all Porsche! Then the Supra will play catch up.

Sorry but i thought they stop making 993 TT's in 1998.

It's not 360rwhp, it's 360awhp. It's making about the same hp at the crank as a BPU Supra. However, was this with just a chip, or with full exhaust and other bolt ons? It's been my experience that "BPU" 993 & 996 Turbos make more power at the crank than BPU Supras. This, of course, is not 100% true, as I know of some BPU Supras making a lot of power, but 911Ts have slightly larger turbos with larger engines, so it's only logical they make a bit more power.

Correct. The current 911 is built on the 996 chassis, not the 993. If you are talking about one of the new 911 Turbos, it's a 996, not a 993.

As far as race results, since Supras vary so much in launching ability, I'd probably give it to the 911T due to AWD, although a supra with a good driver on drag radials would put up a really good fight.

They have 9.5:1 compression, I doubt you can really up the boost that much with a chip. Its already at 16psi I believe.

The 993's make 400 at the crank. The 996 is about 420 at the crank. My BPU made 505 at the crank. Remember The Porsches put less than 15% of the power to the front wheels and beind rear engined, most of the power doesn't have to travel anywhere. So they do not loose that much power in the drivetrain.
Justfor clarification this was a 2001 Yellow Porsche TT with only mod being a Autothority chip. I am surprised it didn't make more power and am skeptical of the benefit of the chip.

So they are set to 16 psi bone stock?
One of my friends just purchased a 996 tt...Yellow. He wants to run my modified RX-7...I am putting out more HP than him and my car weighs 2580 to his 3450.......hehehe

Mr rx-7............ Your gonna kill the poor guy !!!!!!! :D

Have funn doing it !!!!! ;)
