I'm trying to figure out (and yes I have searched both CL & SF) if I can use a 2jz-gte non-vvti ac compressor in my 92 SC300 2jz-gte vvti. Mine compressor is leaking. Anyone with any experience? or anyone have a vvti one laying around?

Florida summers are death.

you'll need a compressor from a 98 n/a supra, or a 98+ GS300/SC300 that is VVT-i ...

The compressor manifold is completely different on the newer compressors and is not the same as the non-vvti motors.

(Granted my answer is only correct if you have already converted your lines to bolt up to the vvti compressor ... if you are still on the stock a/c lines, you should be able to bolt up a non-vvti compressor) ...

Bottom line is the compressor manifolds between the two motors and the a/c lines are different between the two types of motors.

Interesting... I have 2 VVT-i GTE motors in my Supra's (both JDM Supra motors) and the lines in my 95 and my 97 bolted right up and into those compressors.
Maybe the Aristo ones are different?

Artbran, you are probably correct! The lines/manifolds are probably different between the chassis (Aristo vs Supra) ... I've never seen a JDM Supra with the VVT-i motor actually in it ... and I know there are several differences between the JZA80 VVT-i and the JZS161 sets ...

I swapped a JZS161 motor into my MK3 ... and in my case it was obvious they were different.

So in the case for the OP ... safe to say, depends on what motorset he's swapping in too, as well as if he's converted his lines or not if it is an Aristo set ....

Good catch Artbran!

Actually, I just found out that during my swap, the GTE compressor was taken off, and and the GE compressor put on. Reason for this being the swap went into a 92 sc300 and it made easier than the rest of the conversion. Any possibility that the GTE is a "stronger" compressor? I was thinking maybe swapping lines and putting in gte compressor...thoughts?

dlsoul87 did you get this worked out? I have a 98 GS400 with the JDM 2jzgte-vvti swap, and I need an AC compressor. The shop that I took it to said he wasn't 100% sure which compressor could be used. If you have got it sorted out hit me up and tell me what you used.

russell , i used the original ac compressor when i did your swap ..all i did was change your suction lines from a gs400 to a gs300 as they are opposite sides .. the actual compressor are the same

I can confirm as well that the manifolds are different. I happen to be in the market for a non-vvti GTE compressor.
