I am about to drop in Crower 272 small cores (264's) from what I have been reading 3s buckets will drop in just fine and dont require additional shims is the correct?

it should work. i remember doing my 7m head and ALL my mechanics (some whome have been working for almost 25 years at toyota) pitched in and gave me all their shims that they saved up over the years so i can pick and choose. and i know for a fact it wasnt all 7m shims. i'm pretty sure all toyota shims are the same diameter. its just the thickness thats obviously different.

regardless, i'm sure you know that you'll probably still need to buy a few shims unless you get really lucky. and dont forget to use prelubricant also...oil will work fine but i just found it a bit more messing after taking the cams in and out a thousand times.

never heard anything about 3s's haven't worked much on them.

I think that Subaru's ej20's are the same though because the crower spring/retainer kit is the same springs/retainers for the subarus..
