went to change my spark plugs today and found oil all over the number 5 n 6 spark plugs. The cars been runnin like crap it wont rev over 4500. It stuters when i try to move it like its running out of gas i checked the timming its spot on. i tested every thing from the coils to fuel pump and its all good. theres no oil in the spark plug valley. so im wondering if its valve stem seals or rings.

do a compression test and a leak down test.

i did that the number 1-4 cylinders were 100 n 5 n 6 were 120 i did the compression test cold

Seems weak numbers through out.

yeah thats really low, make sure you do 7-8 turns with the throttle body all the way open, and make sure you have a good battery.

i know the engine was cold when i did the test so how much high u think they would be if it was hot

Weather the engine was hot or cold the rings should still seal in the cylinder.
Your not getting a complete burn on those cylinders which is causing the black soot on the plugs. It's time to pull the engine for a re-ring or a proper rebuild.
My advice, Don't cheap out and rebuild to TSRM spec.

i was thinking bout a proper rebuild mhg arp studs the whole nine. but how much is it compared to a 1j/2j swap

the 2jzge engine will bolt right up to 89+ mk3s and u can use the 7mgte electronics with it.
the engine prices change from area to area i can get a 2jzge for 250 while others find them for 700.

iight thanks i think ima just do a full proper rebuild it then save my money n go buy the 1j/2j with the 6 speed trans since thats what i really want

1jz is reliable. but people complain that its 2.5L, in reality who cares the engine can still make pretty good power

I think my brother said he's into his rebuild at about 1,500, and we haven't even gotten it back yet :/
but it's also being overbuilt for what we will be making (we hope)
