After working all day and night, I finally almost got the 5-spd conversion done. The only problem I ran into is installing the r154 in. I got the input shaft into the pilot bearing and the two mounting bolts on top in, but the lower part of the tranny there are two more mounting bolts on each side. There is about a cm gap and the tranny won't move into place. There is a nubbin(sp)? (if thats a real word) that is on one of the sides but it won't go into the hole in the transmission. I spent all my energy trying to work it in but it doesn't want to come in. HELP !!!

The car is a 1987 Supra Turbo originally Automatic.

Did you check to see fo that hole where the "nubbin" goes is clogged with something? Either that or the tranny is hung up on something. My next suggestion would be to pull the tranny back out and try to re-align it. Did you use a tranny jack or just lift it into place?

I'm doing my swap this weekend.. not looking forward to it. :(

i dont know how you went about getting it that far...BUT its very rare to be able to get the tranny perfectly through the tunnel just directly... what you need to do it take it back down...turn it completely upside down..so the starte buldge is on the TOP left and then put it into the tranny tunnel...then once its basically all the way and flush...turn it 180 degrees so its right side up and you should be good to go....

Aside from aligning the trans to the eng rear, installing the clutch master cyl hard line ranks as a PITA for many people, too. I helped on a 5-spd swap a few months back & the owner had a SS tefllon line with fittings made to fit, making that part much easier to do.

ahh the hard lines were not that hard to put in. i grabbed some off of a junkyard car, and installed it pretty easily. the thing that took awhile was the bleeding but after that it was all worth it.

all the $$$ i spent on the conversion and the new OEM parts suddenly feels like nothing at all ahhahaha

I just wish my buddy Mk3_300 would do a 5speed swap and live the joy of a manual tranny......oh well

mk3_300 if your reading this, dont buy a manifold yet, you get more power to the ground by putting in a manual tranny LOL LOL LOL.

Man I just don't see all the hassle. I did mine in 1 day it took a few hours. Once the tranny is out getting it in was easy for me. Then installing the brale pedals and reservoir was a breeze!
Congratulations! You offer us a level of performance we all can aspire to. But can you spell onomatopoeia without looking it up?

This is what Iwas gonna do, just make a ss line that went straight from the master to the slave. Do you happen to know the specifics on that line he made? (length/fittings) I was actually gonna just go take a piece of string and measure it, but it would be nice to know from someone that already made one and installed it. I think the fittings are like 10mm/1.0 pitch.
