I am currently doing a 2jz-gte swap on my 89 MK3 Supra and was wondering what it would take to get 500-550 reliable and most cost effective, horsepower. I am going to be using an r154 tranny so 550 is what I would be wanting to make at most and would like to know what modifications and companies I can trust to ensure quality and reliability while also making it as cost effective as possible.

You said cheap twice. That's not a compatible thought process with MK3s, 2JZ swap and 500 hp. :)

Well I’m just saying as cheap as it can get really. I know it’s gonna be expensive, just some things I don’t wanna break the bank on ya know?

FPR
-6 fuel line, main, stock return is fine
fuel rail
700+ cc injectors
Standalone ECU - ECU masters if on a budget
if stock igniters, hks twin power unit.
spark plugs, BRK coppers is what i personally use. up to you.
Treadstone log manifold, or any log manifold you want. Id stay away form cheap long tube manifolds.
Tial / PTE BOV
PTE or any quality Wastegate
down pipe / exhaust/ muffler
Turbo( PTE, Borg, greddy) prob borg if you're on a budget
oil / coolant lines for turbo
any block off plates required for block
fittings
Wideband
map sensor
Temp sensor
inter-cooler / pipes, 3 inch should be fine all around
radiator
gasket kit
oil catch can / lines
Clutch kit ACT etc
1jz flywheel
1jz bell housing
bell housing bolts
flywheel arp bolts
new motor mounts
jz brackets
if JDm - cams will help. even USDM, upgraded cams will be nice.
might as well get a nice new transmission mount
boost controller / solenoid.
heat wrap for down pipe
turbo blanket /cover
Billet timing belt tensioner
new USDM water pump
gates timing belt, or new timing belt
throttle cable
new clutch slave cylinder, might as well they're not expensive

then of course a tune.

Not sure what you have already on that list or not. Good starting point. don't use cheap ebay parts, you'll pay for it in the long run. if you feel that 550 is the absolute limit you should be fine with that list.

all of that adds up pretty quickly .

Good luck.
