Hey guys, just wondering what the optimal diff ratio is for ~700hp on a 2jz with a 6 speed transmission .. Do you guys swap out for a shorter / longer ratio than the factory 3.266?

The USDM ratio is 3.13, the JDM ratio is 3.26. That's all you got for the big 220mm 6 spd diff. Both ratios match up well with the 6 spd transmission gearing.

All the other ratios - 3.76, 3.92, 4.08, 4.27 are for the smaller auto diff, and considered too short for the 6 spd trans.

I have the 220mm big diff in 3.538 ratio from the export spec auto TT Supra. It seems to work well at the drags (still easily in 4th with my 8500rpm rev limit) and on the street too.

Do you prefer the 3.538 over the 3.1 - 3.2? I know changing to shorter ratios allows for better acceleration, but at the same time, too short will also kill off speed with big hp applications like ~700whp
Do you think going shorter like 3.7, 3.9, 4.08 etc would effect your driving / power delivery / times adversely?

The 3.538 suits my power level (657whp) very nicely for both 1/8th and 1/4 mile racing and I have no plans to put the 3.266 back in. I do have plans to up the whp next year to the 800-900 range. I think it will still be fine at that hp level due to the higher rpm limit than stock.

I also had the 3.769 small diff in my cars for a few years, when I had less power than now. I liked it a lot on the street as it made for much better acceleration in each gear, but I needed to change into 5th at the drags, so it wasn't much quicker on the 1/4.

Find yourself a 3.26 Lexus diff and throw in a aftermarket LSD giken, TRD etc.. I had the 3.72 and hated everything about it shifting into 5th before the traps was annoying and launching with literally no first gear (was on a smaller/shoter tire too which made it worse).. 3.13 or 3.26 is all I would put after having both 3.13 on tall tire and 3.26 on regular or tall tire
