i wrecked my mk3 so im back driving my mk1 again. im thinking about getting the engine out of my mk3 if possible.

ive asked this before with no response. many of you have mk2 w' 7m's.
can this be possible in my 81?
i have a 5M-E engine in the mk1. does it use the same tranny as the mk2?

Yes, a 7m will work in your car. Your stock tranny will bolt to the 7m. There was a guy, from the mkii list, who was putting a 7mgte into his Celica or MKI. Maybe he was a friend of a guy on the mkii list... :) Some pics were shown of it not yet completed.

can i use the tranny from my mk3 too?
the motor mounts should be the same in the 5M-E as the 5M-GE, right?

You could use the stock w-50 and maybe the w-58 but the r-154 require some moding. For one, you will have to hog out the tranny tunnel and the shifter will not fit up though the stock hole. And then there is the rear mount and drive line?

Not sure on the 5me/5mge engine mounts but they should be about the same. The 7m mounts are similar but require some shaving.

Heck if the 7mgte turbo manifold has the same bolt pattern as the 5me head and will fit, then you could turbo the 5me. :)

If you brought that thing to Washington State, Don C. could hook you up with a 7mgte conversion. :D
