Hello, I am getting someone to swap in a 1JZ into my North american 1989 toyota supra.
It currently has a 7MGTE in it. Ive been searching on the forum for my questions but havnt had a direct answer to what im looking for, so I thought Id post a thread.
In advance I thank you for reading and posting any useful info to help me know more and not to get ripped off.

My first question: What addition parts will I need for the swap?
From my understand I need a different front mount intercooler.
The mechanic is asking where the sump is on the 7m and the 1jz.
He also states he needs to make a custom mount / bracket.
From what I have read the stock ones in my year of supra would be fine?

He also says I need a custom / different drive shaft to hook it up properly.

Also any other helpful bits or hints of information for the swap.

Thanks, Omnispyder.

Sooo..

Buy a gasket set and redo all of the gaskets/seals, downpipe, FMIC, pipes, etc
From my understand I need a different front mount intercooler.
Yes.

Oil pan? You will need a rear sump pan to fit in your MKIII
He also states he needs to make a custom mount / bracket.
Search BIC performance

Stock what?
He also says I need a custom / different drive shaft to hook it up properly.
I believe they share the same trans, so same driveshaft. not 100% sure
Also any other helpful bits or hints of information for the swap.
You are in CA, just buy a JZA70

Read this thread for number 1

2. you need jza70 intercooler or a custom intercooler
3. As 1jz-87M-GTE said you need a rear stump oil pan(stump)
4. If your motor mounts is the round looking one(89.5-92 have round motor mounts and 86.5-89 have square). you do not need to get custom bracket (if you buy a 1jzgte from a jza70 the motor mounts and bracket will work in your car) but if you have the square motor mount you will need to get custom bracket. you can buy the from BIC Performance
5. The 7mgte motor mount bracket will not work on a 1jzgte

My tip to you is if your going to buy the motor make sure you get a motor from a jza70 not a jzz30
they both came with rear stump oil pan.
