7MGTE HX50 Tuning Questions

3632 Views 6 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  ALPINSUPRA
whats up guys i have a few simple questions that I keep getting too many different answers on.

I'm running a 7mgte and I am about to upgrade my turbo and i would like some insight as to what to do about tuning.

I will be running a holset HX50 :-D (proly too big...oh well)
walbro fuel pump
and I am currently looking for injectors probably 880s

anyone i have talked to in person has an aftermarket ECU. I'm currently not wanting to spend the money on that.

what are my power limitaions running an S-afc?
im looking for more power than i can get with the Lexus AFm and 550's or else this is a waste of time.

or is there anything else you guys recommend to run.

I'm from the honda world, where any tuning can be done be chipping an ECU and throwing in a wideband. :p

thanks for any advice.

u need aem or maft pro, honda are a lill diffrent ;)
Map ECU or Map ECU2. get rid of the AFM all together. plus, lap-top tuning on the fly is great, as well as datalogging and allowing for WBO2 input.

i forget, does the MAFT pro do that too?

sorry, these cars dont do chipped ECU's. so now you can make fun of the honda owners when talking to the rest of us... "AY yo dawg, My civic is Chipped oN Crome Son!" i actually know people with hondas that say it like that too. :nono: the Supra ECU is, for all intents and purposes, a Black Bag operation. everything you can do with it is going to be piggy-backed.
ya. thats kinda what i was afraid of, unless someone wants to sell me an EMS real cheap

I honestly know jack about Maft Pro. what other components are need for it? do you have to run something like a GM MAF?

Naw ManG! i run Uooberdata yo! I'm a haxXoR. lol
well i dont know how much those chipped P28's and P72s and shit cost... but a Map ecu is like $300. the MAFT piggy backs use GM MAF's, LS1 and LT1 hotwire maf's.
If you're thinking you're going to top out the 550cc injectors, you're also going to top out a single walbro pump. Plan on upgrading that accordingly.

I'd (personally) go with either:

VPC/SAFC2
AEM
MoTec.

for engine management

(MoTec being my first choice if options were unlimited)

hey bro,
questions,
1)what part of texas are u from
2)where did you get your turbo?
3)have you got this turbo on the car yet? and how does it run? i wanna use the hx55 on my big ass build
4)what mods do you have so far??
5)what power are you looking for at what psi?

maft pro or standalone is pretty much the way to go with our cars as it has been said, also check out kristor he has the hx50 on his mk4 that is only running like 16psi and making 480whp .......

thanks
