The gas is probably too old to keep the car on which is also probably why when you floor it it tries to stay on with the extra massive amount of air barley keeping the engine turning.
Is that the right speck psi that should be on the rail? Also did you turn the engine long enough to rid the lines of the old fuel and get the new fuel from the tank to the chamber?
Thanks for chiming in everyone, was told that 40+ psi on the rail is good...?
Fuel system is flushed with new fuel in the tank.
Car has been in the family since 90...parked in 08.
What I would do next is what I dont like doing and its being specification specific according to the fsm. So the fsm says psi says 7mgte to be 33-40 MAX on fuel pressure so if you have 45 psi there might be too much fuel being sprayed into the chamber at once causing the engine to not keep itself on.
Also you might wanna consider downloading the fsm free online. Btw do you have any pictures of the car. I would like to see how original the car is since its been in the family since 90 and storaged at 08. http://www.turboninjas.com/mk3supra/
Thanks! It is rust free and in great shape inside and out.
Replaced the fuel pressure regulator with no change. Measuring voltages at the igniter and no 3 volts on the output....hmmm
I bought my 89' Supra two months ago from a guy with 41 cars in a drive shed all Toyota and Lexus years from 71' - 96'
My red 89' was parked at the very back. He couldn't even get to it to take pictures.
It had sat since spring 2005 (14 years). Guy handed me the key and it took a few seconds of cranking but fired up, didn't even need a boost.
Interior is totally mint, body is spotless. Took a lot of detailing using clay and compound to bring the paint and glass back to mint from all the sitting dust and grime.
Ok, chiming back in, we have replaced the igniter, triple checked the timing and still no joy. Seems like on initial crank, the engine fires then is getting shut down. Then just cranks with a small ignition every 3rd crank or so. ECU seems to be telling the engine not to run...any other ideas?
Update, the culprit has been found! Pulled the O2 sensor and it started right up! Damn rodents clogged the exhaust completely with sunflower seeds etc...now pulling the intake as the plugs show signs of seeds and contamination as well....
