Hello everyone, I've decided I have accumulated enough time and pictures to start a build thread.

A little about me:

I'm 25 and in the US Navy, stationed over in Yokosuka Japan. We've been here for almost 1 year now and my wife and two kids are loving it. We are about 45 minutes south of Tokyo and having a great time.

On to the car, I bought it from a fellow member here, Thomas, a great guy. He kept the car in outstanding condition and was the second owner.

I purchased the car from Thomas for 1.3m yen with an exchange rate of 1.07 dollars for every yen. This comes out to about 12150.00 US dollars.

The car is a 94 TT 6sp Renaissance Red Supra, unfortunately I don't recall the exact mileage when I purchased the car but it now has 147,000KMs on it. The only mods Thomas had completed where a Tein Suspension, Fujitsumbo 3" exhaust, 18" wheels, and Greddy strut tower bar. Otherwise this car was untouched.

Here are some of the original pictures:

Lots more to follow...

So my first purchase of parts for the supra. I decided I would go the BPU route first to learn the car and so on. I grabbed:

Greddy Intake, Blowoff Valve, and Rad Hard Pipe.

Defi Link Boost, Fuel Pressure, Oil Presure, Oil Temp, and Water Temp.

My Greddy 16row Oil Cooler with Filter Relocate came in before I put the rest on as well.

I never got a decent day time picture of these installed but here you go.

Next came the Greddy 3row with single turbo piping. That was my bad because I couldn't correctly read the japanese auction I purchased it through. I ended up picking up some 3 row pipes for cheap on the forums for use with the stock twins.

Here you can see the lines for the oil cooler ran behind the FMIC but in front of the radiator.

Around this time I also picked up a front lip I really really miss now. It was just too low over here and the roads aren't always the greatest so it was damaged soon after it was installed. I am however thinking about grabbing another one, 250 US is a steal!

I don't have pictures but I would add on Greddy BCC and HKS EVC EZ. I also purchased a really nice downpipe from JIC for the stock JDM twins. I hoped that since it was from a big name manufacturer that it would be made properly for the stock twins however it still had the overboosting issue. Lucky it was 2 pieces like stock and I was able to leave the first cat installed. I would also ditch the Fujisumbo because I am more into a canister style exhaust and have always been a big fan of Apex-I. I decided on their N1 Evo for the supra.

At this point I am getting scared of the stock NA brakes that came on the early TTs over here. So I purchased a set of used ones form a member here. He even refinished them for me and tossed logos on there.

I would drive the car around at this state for a good few months. Very fun and responsive car. I tried out TTC and it just wasn't for me. I really enjoyed the stock setup.

I would later stumble upon this little jewel on the auctions and I just had to snag it for 90 US.

I would now start to prep for adding more fuel. I knew the stock injectors, especially JDM ones, were not going to cut it. I bought an Innovate LC-1 with XD16. I wanted to keep a close eye on AFRs. I would also grab a VPC/GCC combo here on the forums with a B chip so I could still use the stock cams and upgrade injectors. To work along with that fuel controller I bought a USDM OBD1 Ecu and USDM resistor pack.

So, I thought I blew up one of my twins, I wasn't posting right and I couldn't figure it out. This lead me to placing an order for a Boost Logic kit incorporating a PTE 71 DBB Billet turbine with an .81 AR and a 4" DP/MP setup.

Here it is basically installed. I would still like to weld up the water neck and maybe get a blanket or heat shield for the exhaust housing. I also want to attempt to re-route the piping use the single piping I accidentally purchased earlier. For now the long piping will be good enough. I am also deciding if I need to try and make a custom catch can or possibly purchase PHR's beautiful setup.

Well yesterday I got a little froggy and decided I wanted to paint some plastics under the hood. I went and found what I believed to be as close to the stock color as I could find. After doing this I have decided that I am going to get rid of everything that is blue under the hood. I am going to swap the couplers for black and refinish the strut tower bar bases in black as well. I am debating on if I should finish the valve covers in a hi temp black or if I should have them polished... Undecided there.

And here are some random pictures I have taken since having the car:

I don't really have any good interior pictures but I did refinish the dash, got rid of the wood grain and painted it flat black. It turned out really well. I have my Oil Temp, Water Temp, and Oil Pres in a contouring gauge pod to the left between the driver and passenger. I have the Boost and Fuel Pres on the A Pillar. I tossed the XD16 in the factory clock location. I also added a Top Secret shift knob. That completes the interior or now and probably a long time to come.

I hope everyone has enjoyed so far. I have a Boost Logic fuel system on the way with 75lb injectors and a RPS single clutch kit, the sport with a 6 puck sprung disk and RPS flywheel. I have decided to go this route to hold about 600-625 flywheel HP. I don't expect to get much more than that out of the pump gas over here. I can't run any race gas for any reasonable price. I might have meth on the brain soon enough though, so we will see what develops there.

Thanks again for checking out my thread! More to come soon!

Very nice and clean Supra! I pair of 98+ headlights would look great. Looks like the TTE wheels also :)

Maybe you already know this but the stock JDM twins need a restrictor in the downpipe to not overboost, dont ask me why since the US/EU twins dont have that issue.

Definately in the market for a new set of headlights. I wont be changing the tails though, I really like the earlier style, dunno why.

Also I had heard that about the stock JDMs but I was hoping that JIC made some sort of provision for that in the DP but they didn't...

wow beautiful car man and you being in Japan it must be a breez to get those mods. Hows life over on the island do you speak Japanes now that you live there. subrcibing =)
I'm really trying to learn as much as possible. It's a slow process though because we are in and out so much here. It's funny you speak of the mods like that. At first I was so excited becuase I thought I would be getting "JDM" parts left and right. As it turns out I am buying most of my REAL performance mods from the states! I really don't like too much of the Japanese style of tuning and what not. The states TRUELY do supras right!

Looks really clean! Nice work!
love those wheels, nice car
car looks great
Very Nice!

I agree, a pair of 98 headlights would look SICK!
Thanks to you all for the kind words!

Looking forward to the pics with the new headlights then :) Think the earlier style looks great too of some reason.

Think there is only one DP on the market that has that restrictor, dont know if i remember right but i think its RMM who makes it  Good luck with the build!

Wow great build. Was thinking of taking a trip over there when i get a little older.
Is stuff more expensive over there compared to what you would spend in the U.S.?
Japan is a great place! Now if you are referring to performance parts, I would say the prices are very comparable if you are willing to purchase them on the yahoo auctions and such. Now if you are going to a shop to have work done the prices are out of the ballpark.

When I first got here I spoke with Bee-R, not sure if you have heard of them, very close to my house, and they told me the parts to just purchase them would be MSRP. We are talking straight out of Greddy's catalog. That was for the oil cooler.

The biggest problem over here is getting on a dyno. Most places, for liability or insurance reasons, seem to be very uncomfortable with dyno'ing a car they didn't put together. The japanese are VERY strict and structured, guidelines and policies rule the world here.

Also it's hard finding "custom one off" parts here like SP, BL, PHR, and Titan, shops do it but generally they like to install kits from manufactures. Not a lot of high quality custom work seems to get done. Thus why I am buying everything from the states and installing it myself.

Very beautiful car. I can't believe that you bought it for that price. Excellent choice in mods. Keep us updated on your progress.

I had purchased the RMM from a member on the forums and was quiet disappointed when I found the O2 housing to be smaller than the USDMs. I've come a good way as far as learning the differences between USDM and JDM, some the harder way.
