This is not a Joke... This has absolutely NOTHING to do with all the other drama. My 97 chrome headlight bezels have rusted do to condensation. I plan on polishing the lenses, but what are the various ways to fix the rusted bezels? How are they removed? Are they too thin for chroming? Can they be electroplated? Does anyone have a hook up on such a service?

On another note while trying to do the FOG/high beam "on at the same time mod", I screwed something up, and now the fogs do not work at all. The relays seem fine, and the fuses are OK, anyone?

The chrome bezels cannot be removed. They just have to be repainted. I believed some people just use some type of chrome to repaint them like you repaint the housing. Becareful what type of chrome you use though. You might just wanna test it out on a piece of cardboard to make sure it's shiny and reflective like stock.

Also, the foglight is very tricky. Make sure all the harnesses and shit are connected properly. The bulb is grounded on the socket, so the H3 bulb has to be inside the housing for it to work. Other than that, I have no clue as to this issue.

Take it from someone who has screwed around with the chrome paint, your absolute best solution is to get the entire plastic housing chrome plated, and then repaint the graphite black everywhere besides the rings.

The chrome paints won't match perfectly, at least not the ones you will find in local stores.

Thanks, any one else? Let's hope my insurance picks up the tab for new lights, as they started to fog after a particularly inept shop put my car in the oven with the headlights in place. New 98s would sure be sweet:D

Actually, Rustoleum brand is good as well. I was just curious since they were not off the car yet. So, are they "epoxied" to the housings? They are Def. metal, as they rusted. Not to nice on a 97 RSP with a full show quality repaint...

It's not metal, keep rubbing the chrome paint and you'll see more and more of this "rust" color. It's places where the chrome paint has been removed.

Trust me, they are NOT METAL. I can show you pictures if you like. I have tried the 2 brands mentioned in this thread. BELIEVE ME, the only way to get them looking new is to have the entire plastic housing chromed, and then respray the graphite black everywhere besides the rings.

where do they do this?? i was under the impression that you couldn't 'chrome' plastic... it's called vacuum metalizing isn't it? i haven't found anyone who does this in my area and i need to do this too...

The chrome on the ring. I had the same problem on my 98's when I bought them used. :( I posted a thread showing how I restored them, you can search for it and maybe it will be of help.

Hey MD, did you do the full chrome repaint and then black over? Or did you just do the rings individually?
Hey buddy :)

I only painted the high beam chrome, then resprayed the rest of the housing (due to bubbling on the paint under the fog light). :)
