What powers the A/C compressor? I just reinstalled mine and connected the only electrical lead coming off of it and I get nothing when I turn it on. Any ideas?
There is a single positive lead going into the older toyota A/C compressors which eventually power the electromagnet inside the clutch mechanism. The only typical reason why the a/c clutch mechanism wouldn't work is if one of two conditions are not met.
1. You either have no or low refrigerant tripping the pressure sensor disabling the compressor from frying itself out.
2. Pressure sensor is defective or no hooked up.
Check both and you should be good to go, of course I'm assuming you checked all the fuses and relays.
Yeah, jumped the lead to a 12v source and the clutch works. However, under normal conditions it seems that it does not want to come on even with a charge. Nor is my blower kicking in... I'm affraid that it is something in the climate control area. Any ideas? Everything on the dash lights up, but right now I am at a loss...
