Hello everyone, I am helping a friend with a swap and I wanted to document it here. The information I have found on how to do this has been subpar. I plan to document all of the information needed to swap an Aristro 2jz-gte into an Sc300. Much of the information that will be complied in this thread will be usable, pertenent to Supra, Is300, Sc300/400, and Gs300/400 owners wanting to do the swap and is the reason for the thread title. Without further adieu, here is the build.

About a year ago my friend bought a 1995 Sc300 5spd(W58) with around 80k miles with intentions of swapping in an Aristro 2jz-gte.

The goals for the swap are as follows:
1. Swap an Aristro 2jz-gte non vvti in the Sc300
2. Integrate the needed parts of the Aristro 2jz-gte wiring harness into the existing 2jz-ge wiring harness in order to properly control the engine.
3. Retain the W58 transmission
4. A single turbo conversion of the Aristro motor before it is installed in the Sc300

In reality, for people who have researched the swap the valuable things I will add with extensive documentation/pictures are:
1. I am going to learn and explain the wiring merge of the two harnesses
2. List all major parts and procedures
3. Take detailed photos of the process

This is still a work in progress...
First on the docket... What is needed? How much will it Cost?

Basically everything needed is listed below some things could be done differently to save a little money, like keeping the auto transmission that comes with the Aristo GTE and keeping the stock twins. The total below is $3900 and it's not finished, this is including a single kit ~$1000 and clutch ~500 so it could be possibly be done for ~$2400.

Vital to all Aristo swaps:

1. JDM Aristro 2jz-gte engine set.
It is normally found in conjunction with an auto transmission because the engine/tranny combo is found in the gs300/400(Aristro) in Japan. I forget which importer my buddy used but, the going rate is $1900.

2. USDM Twin turbo water pump.
The Aristro engine is supplied with a water pump that also powers a hydraulic radiator fan system. It must be deleted. A ge water pump may not be used. The casting nearly fits but, it is not usable. USDM twin turbo water pump $70 used but, in good condition from a supra turbo. Beware of the ebay and other cheap aftermarket pumps advertised to fit usdm gte engines, they don't fit. Two of these pumps were purchased and returned, even after the seller/manufacture were called and they insured us it would fit.

3. Rear sump oil pan.
In most cases including our build you may use the upper and lower oil pan from the ge motor originally fitted to the car. The aristro motor comes with a front sump oil pan that would interfere with the suspension on a supra or sc300. I believe the oil pan on the aristro motor would fit a gs300/400 but, don't quote me on that. Hopefully we can clear that up. The only reason you would need to buy an oil pan is in cases were you did not have a ge motor to begin the poject with. A small modification must be done to the ge oil pan for the turbo oil drain but, I will get into that later during the procedures. "FREE!"

4. Moddified or USDM TT wiring harness.
We will be using the GE harness and adding what is needed from the aristro gte harness. I have also heard that it is possible to just buy a usdm tt harness for around $550. One of the main points of this thread is to show how to modify the harnesses in order to not have to pay to have it moddified or buy a new USDM TT harness. $"included with chassis and new motor"

5. Sc300 engine mounts and brackets.
You will need to use the motor mounts and brackets from whatever veichle was orginally equipped with the 2jz-ge, or a direct replacement. The 2jz-gte and ge share the same engine block casting so the motor mounts orginally found in the car will line up perfectly. 97-98 Supra motor mounts are a very good option for sc300 owners, the 97-98 supras share mounting locations and engine brackets to sc300's. We chose eBay special solid aluminum mounts marketed for 97-98 supras. $60.

6. Higher flowing fuel pump. Walbro 255lph pump was chosen for this project. $80

7. Intercooler.
On this project, since the engine will be single turbo'ed we will be using a front mount intercooler. I do know that the stock sidemounts from supras will fit both supra and sc300/400. Buying a front mount intercooler core with end tanks and fabricating the piping is fairly straight forward. There are also bolt on front mount intercooler kits for supras. We have bought the core for $100 and will be fabricating the piping $tba.

8.TT Power steering reservoir.
I suppose you could run a plastic bottle or a polished up one of kind aluminum work of art. We chose the easiest, most safe, cheapest route, supra turbo reservoir. $60 shipped, used.

At this point each setup(chassis used, transmission used, turbos, ect) may be different.

9. Clutch.
David bought an upgraded clutch for his W58. Using the auto transmission was never a thought. We are gear rowers. W58's strength has come up on many discussions but, he is going to run it until it breaks and eventually purchase a R154. DH bought a ACT pressure plate and disk, the stock flywheel from the ge was resurfaced and will be used. Resurface flywheel $25 ACT Extreme W58 clutch kit $470.

10. Timing bellt, spark plugs, valve cover gaskets, drive belt, o2 sensor.

11. Single Turbo Kit.
We decided the cheapest single kit possible is better than the JDM twins. It's specs are as follows.
Cxracing.com 67mm turbo. $500 Nearly the exact same size wheels and housing as a Precision 67mm normally fitted.
Ebay divided flange manifold. $200
Ebay HKS knock off 50mm wastegate. $75
Ebay downpipe, dump tube, intake tube kit. $100 Dowpipe appears it will bolt up to the stock sc300 exhaust and the initial start will be done with the stock exhaust.
K&N air fliter. $tba
Oil feed and return will be a combination stainless hard lines around the turbo/manifold and braided lines at the block. A decent oil and feed kit at a reasonable price does not exist. $50 for junck or $175 rip off, nothing in the middle.

Fuel control:
12. Map Ecu.
Easy to control and tune should work great with the small injectors. Found locally... $250

13. AEM Wideband.
It will be integrated into the map ecu for dataloging and tuning. Gift from Gay Brain. Don't ask.

14d. Greddy BCC.
Hopefully this is need with the JDM Ecu... $50

The wiring harness.

Where do I begin? The only information I have found is vague and poorly organized. People have done it a few different ways: extend the Aristo harness, buy a Usdm tt harness, and then a schmorgesborg of merging the harnesses in various ways. Using a usdm harness seems to be the most accepted practice and most expensive sure fix. Simply extending the Aristo harness is a total hack of a job.

We will be using the Sc300 Ge harness and adding parts from the Aristo harness, removing, and rerouting as needed.

Here the harnesses are removed and slayed out.

You can but I'd HIGHLY recommend buying 98 Supra TT engine mounts.

Yea, looking forward to see this also, your TRD diff install thread was great. Oh whens the v160 rebuild thread coming?
Thanks. I haven't rebuilt the V160 because I haven't needed to quite as quickly as I thought when I posted that in the diff build thread. It only grinds third at full throttle at redline. I am waiting to get skinnies to go back to the track so when I get frusterated with it then, thats probably when it will be rebuilt.

Thanks for the input. We looked at his stock mounts last night and they were COMPLETELY shot. I started to wiggle the bolts that come out of the mount and attach to the engine brackets and one of them fell off as I first touched it!!! Definitely will be getting new mounts.

Do you know if the Aristro 2jz-gte engine brackets are the same as the sc300 and Supra 97-98 brackets? That's another question I am trying to clear up...

92-00 SC300 brackets are the same as 97-02 Supra. Aristo are different, I'd assume they are the same as the GS300.

The SC300 and GS300/Aristo engine mount are garbage tho, you saw them yourself, they look like MK3 round mounts.

IMO the 97-98 Supra mounts are the best, better than the TRD 93.5-96 mounts and cheaper too.

I also kept the cool heatshield on the passanger-side when I upgraded to Supra mounts.

93.5 Supra.

you can see the 93.5-96 Supra bracket is really short to compensate for the really large mount.

upgrade to a 2jz than, bang for your buck the 1jz is good if you are going na/auto to turbo/r154 otherwise the .5l stroker "kit" cost of the 2jz is a better deal.

Thanks for the info I think we will be going with 97-98 supra mounts. I think we will get them from champion when we get the stock seals and stuff the motor needs.

I'm doing this same swap into an SC300 so I might have questions or maybe even answers for some stuff. I'll be keeping the stock auto trans with dreams of building it later on down the road. I've got the engine out of the car and getting ready to drop the new one in so if you want any pictures let me know.

From Champion toyota: tune up parts
1. Valve cover seals, visually leaking $20
2. PCV hoses, grommet, valve, didn't come with the engine ~$25
4. Timing belt per DH request since we are in there changing the water pump $25
5. Thermostat and seal, one that came with the engine is fubared.

Intercooler...

Oil feed and return/drain lines. Does anyone have a good source for a kit that won't break the bank, or a parts list?
