So its cold in iowa, not as bad as it was last week, but with constant down pouring of cold merciless rain and a constant cloudy sky above, the weather is miserable.
I just spent a few hours in the garage while the rain pounded down on the roof, drowning it out withthe sounds of all sorts of music in my cd collection, ranging from Aerosmith to Insane Clown Posse to Killswitch engage, wrenching away on my new supra I got. Tonight I grinded away the mounting bolt that was broke in my differential, carelessly throwing sparks into the gas tank before I realized what I was doing. Also I installed the brake pedal for my auto to 5 spd conversion and broke a pos strut while I was jacking up the rear end. So I took them out, and was suprised by the simplicity of the whole procedure, taking them both out in less than 20 minutes.
Once I was done and realized there was very little work I could do until I recieved a torque wrench from my friend later on today(for the head install) I decided to sit in the ugly burgundy seat from my old supra that now sits outside.
While staring at my car in the dark garage alit by only the blinding light of a spot light, I Realized I love this car. I feel an amazing level of confidence with this car. I know this car like the back of my hand, granted I need alot of advice time to time, and my automotive skills aren't professional grade, I understand this car. I can do things to this car that I never thought possible 2 years ago when I bought it.
2 years ago I didn't know how to change struts.
hell 2 years ago I could barely understand my haines manual.
and now? I fuck that shit up in 30 minutes or less. Granted, it is easy, but thats just an example. I see my intake manifold, vacuum lines, intake, exhaust, turbo, intercooler, all that shit cluttering the corner of the garage and I don't sweat it for a minute that I can't put it back together.
Me and my supra, Tsabo Tavoc, we fucking belong together.

I love my turbo supra. I hate it when it's broken, and I don't have the right tool to do something. But when it's done I love it so much. I don't think many people look at their car every time they walk past it with admiration and joy. I run my hand along the spoiler and think of how great it is. I love my NA as well, but in a different way. It was my first real car after my VW Fox that got rear ended. I love that car so much. The first time I drove it was still one of my happiest memories. It was the greatest feeling I've experienced, feeling the power, and knowing I was buying this car.

I <3 my car too. I may not know everything, but I've learned so much from it already. I've done all the work on it myself so far, and I plan to continue as far as I can go.

I don't make much $$, but I am one devoted person, putting at least 85% of my pay into the car.

hahah! word I sooo do that. I haven't been able to in forever, because my old supra had no seat, or no dash, so it didn't work, but now, I got everything in cept the clutch pedal, and once thats its, I'm gonna sit the shifter in place and have some fun in makebelieve land!

I guess I feel the same also. The best thing is when the boost hits. Then it's like a gosh damn freight train. True, it doesn't wrap my lips around my ears (yet). It really pays off when she's running right.
Gotta love it man!!!

I love the style of my 88t.
Looks wise I prefer it to the MKIV.
And I plan on moding her to my own vision. I also see her as my Poor Man's exotic. And being a Ferrari and road racing fanatic, I have found her to remind me of the 550 Maranello.

Pictured here in LeMans race trim:

And this is the direction I'm hoping to take her.
Not to make her appear like the 550, but to make her out to this type of style. A true Sport Grand Touring car.

Cressida is a better car.

Who the fuck do I think I'm fooling?

The only things the Supra has on the Cressida that are unaddressable are the following:

1) It's a stylish coupe
2) Somewhat bigger engine bay
3) Suspension is somewhat better
4) It has a good aftermarket

Everything else, EVERYTHING else, it SUCKS at. Paint finish SUCKS, dash controls SUCK, seats SUCK, fat-ass curb weight SUCKS, instrument panel SUCKS, NVH SUCKS, and the overall feeling of the car is not one of a sporty machine but of an 80s automotive prison.

My thrill and excitement at owning a Supra are COMPLETELY gone.

I'm glad that I, nor anyone else on this board feel the same way.
