Done alot of reading about the ability of the TT auto to hold power, and it seems as though when they break it's the 2nd gear sprag @450ish whp and a hard shift into 2nd.
Now is this a hooking tire prob only, or are people breaking them w/slippery street tires too? I have an IS300, and I'm thinking about ordering a gte swap w/ the auto if it'll live for a while @450whp ish.
Another note. I'm assuming w/the supra TT auto there's no way to hold the trans in 1st?
My IS a650 can be held to 1st,2nd,3rd so that it doesn't upshift.
Thanks to all :)

I've done the solid accumulator piston mod and raised the line pressure on my a650, and like how it shifts firmer now, but I'm also hearing that though I have increased the clutch holding power the increased shock is now being put on to the sprag and will cause it to fail sooner :/ oh dear... Similar situation on the a340 too???
I know I'm a newb here w/only 1 post, but I'm no stranger to high hp toyotas. I used to have a pretty BA E85 drinking 510whp mr2, that it being parted/sold to do 4door/2j mods :)
I'll only have a lil 61mm, and E85 again, so not CRAzay power just more than the not so fun 215 of the GE motor :)

The biggest problem with the A340E is they like to crap out when they see power between shifts. If you let the gear engage, they can actually handle a bit of power. I remember gixxer750ms making 750hp+ fine but not slamming it between gears.

Once its in gear, it'll hold alot of power, its the shifting in that high hp range that kills the clutch packs.

dynoed mine last year @12 psi .i got 360whp with the oem cat on.dynoed after i diagnosed and fixed all problems and removed the cat [email protected] can go much further but i dont want to push it right now.i beat it almost every day.the key is not to have traction once 2nd gear is engaged;p.you dont want the power to slam the 2nd gear sprag but instead spin the tyres a little.btw i dont have the traction ecu.what i noticed also is that when the tranny is cold it transfers more power to the wheels so a good oil cooler and frequent oil change is a MUST.when cold it has more pressure to push the clutchpacks and have a solid shift without spinning the clutchpacks enough.btw ATF has a billet 2nd gear sprag

So the supra auto is not capable of staying in 1st? 4spd trans w/3 forward gear selections on the shifter I'm guessing. So if you place the shifter in the lowest gear selection will the trans hold 1st, or starts in 1st, shifts to 2nd and stays there until you shift to 3rd???
I'm guessing option B.
Thanks again.
