www.mkiv.com has both plate and removal mods.

Is there any way I could get in trouble for removing the egr? I guess emissions would not look at it, right?
Does LA stand for Los Angeles? If so forget it! Ca has the toughest emissions standards in the US! Unles you mind putting it back on since the tests aren't random.

Actually, I am moving to Annapolis, MD in two weeks so what do you think know, does MD check this stuff at emissions, my friend said no but he was not entirly sure?
your EGR mod will most likely go unchecked in MD. they're mostly concerned with cats being on the car and how the readings turn out on the emission dyno. By the way if you Supra is lowered at all they'll probably tell you to pull around and get a waiver without ever checking anything... :D

I had the same leak at the EGR, I installed the thin sheet steel plate that Mohd (mkiv.com list) sells, no more leak. I just remove it to smog and then reinstall. Easy.

Chip,
How hard is the install and do you know of any advantages in this over doing the egr removal and using two plates?

Install is really easy, if you don't have the correct Torx head socket (to remove the studs) then notch the plate where the bolt holes are so you can drop it in from above.

The advantage is (for those of us who have to pass smog) that you can easily make the EGR funtional again when needed.
