am i crazy for this or not?
my cars been out of action for a little less then a year and a half.
its to the point where theres very little minor things left to do
i bought the AEM ems because i had the money at the time and wanted to do everything big....and right but now im realizing, it may not have been necessary.
one becuase ive been reading problems people have had with having it tuned wrong....and finding someone in my area to tune it properly has also got me puzzled.
but
i started talking with my friend yesterday and he brought up the idea
of swapping out my aem ems which is brand new and has no map, never been tuned or anything, for a greddy emanage ultimate?
is this entirely a bad idea? or would it be a wiser choice for myself?
im gonna be running stock fuel on a bl67turbo
and im wondering if piggybacking my stock ecu would be wiser?
ive heard that map ecu gives some supras trouble...what about greddy?
would i still have to run an ignition amp (hks dli tiwn power)?
what are the ups and downs of doing this? im not familiar with the greddy emanage ult. at all, but reading from there website it sounds like a nice setup.
any opinions, information, criticism, or whatever, please! shoot me straight
im very motivated to get my car done!

Sounds like a very bad Idea IMO, Piggy are NOT the way to go.

Alternatively you could swap it for an Apexi Power FC, which are a much better choice (standalone), and it is very easy to map. You will probably have more luck finding someone in your area who will map it.

Isnt power FC discontinued for the Supra?

I dont know. Does AEM really provide any advantages over a piggyback for somone who plans to stay on pump gas? (i.e. ~18 psi) For a DIY'er doesn't AEM provide more ways to get into trouble with its plethora of options?

My self I have installed and tuned both GReddy EU and AEM EMS in Supras and in my opinion the GReddy EU has more problems and more difficult to tune than AEM EMS.

If I'm in your case I'll NOT do it.

Of the choices, AEM. I think its probably a good choice regardless. Many people run this with little to no problems. Ive been hearing good things about the FCON and Motec units as well...but thats another subject, and a whole new price range.

This is a good man to listen to. If he says go AEM, then thats what you really should do. I greatly value this man's opinion, as do many.

Keep the AEM or sell it and install an SAFC2 since you are on stock fuel and keep the MAF. You won't pick up any additional power by using the AEM on stock fuel.

Hey, IF you decide to go ahead with the Greddy, I have and E-manage Ult. I will trade you for the AEM of course I would pay you the differance in cost.

OR if you decide to go another route and still want to sell the AEM let me know, I will have money standing by.
