HELL no. The 97+ cars are emission checked via the OBDII port under the driver side side dash panel. NO stock ECU, no OBDII. Unless your state is still doing emissions solely via the tail pipe (like the older emissions gas analyzers), its not worth having your car tuned for "emissions".

Damn, so everytime I need to pass emission I have to swap back the stock ecu? When disconnected, is the AEM V2 at that point is plug and play with the saved settings after I'm done with stock ecu? thanks guys!

There are two logical ways out of this... I'll only mention the legal one. Try and find a semi local county that doesn't perform Emissions test and just make the drive once a year and get it done there. Generally podunk areas don't mandate Emissions.
