hey guy's, i've done some general maintenance on my girlfriends dad's 1986 Cressida. (Valve cover gaskets,plugs and wires) he is now saying it needs and alt. and was wondering if i could change it.

I have looked under that hood ONCE and that was to do the valve covers, can someone tell me where about the Alt. is and what i need to remove to take it off? I would just go outside and look at it, but the car is an hour and 25 minutes away and i just want to know what i'm getting into.

Should honestly take less then an hr very simple. Make sure you double check the alternator connectors.. Most of the time the alternators are fine, but the connectors get corrision/dirt in them and don't allow the alternator to charge the car.
