How fun are the 87's with the 7M-GTE to drive stock? I mean do they have enough power to be fun?

with everything in good working order, fresh/ non fowled properly gapped plugs, and a mbc set just under fuel cut...

its a fun ride, id put them ahead of most stock cars on the road... targa is a plus in the summer!!!

biggest thing is to decide early on if you want to mod the car or not... that means compression test
#1arp head bolts and proper tq!!!
#2 afpr and wideband af gauge...

i have an 87 turbo supra 5spd targa top
i love everybit of it...besides the body getting a little noisey when the targa is removed and going down a bumpy road lol
my car is mainly stock with the exception of a fmic and a fart can
i can floor it in 1st gear and get the tires to spin on stock boost lol
i havent actually raced any body or taken it to the track due to this is my daily

any car can be/is fun. just gotta know how/where to have fun. a 3 cyl geo metro is fun to beat on...and a unimog is fun because its just stupid to have...

What's your definition of fun? Beating the ever-living-piss out of it like some stupid teenager or maintaining the 2nd most important investment you will ever have (unless you count kids...). I prefer the later. You can have as much spirited driving as the stock 232 bhp (might be ~190-200bhp or 160 whp lol) can do, which isn't much. It's good to get you from A to B just a bit faster, not much though.

BTW, get the flame suit ready. Read all the stickies in their entirity (here, FAQ, and Tech), then search for questions you have in each one. You will find your answers.

thanks guys for the info, naw im not going to beat the piss out of it. Just want to be able to hit the gas and get the heart rate up a bit. I wont have the money together to completly build it for awhile just dropped $1500 for the motor plus $450 shipping costs. Just wanted to make sure i could have fun with it before i build it.

when its your first car its really fun for the first few months then you get used to it.. sure after nearly a year it still puts a smile on my face when i hit it in second/third but i've gotten to the point where it's just a nice car with more power than the typical teenagers first car around my town.. it's still fun to get some noise out of the BOV though.
(i dont beat the piss out of it.. in fact people in my school always tell me i drive way too slow.. lol)

Nope, none out there. 87's are no fun. They have ugly tail lights, mirrors, and front bumpers.

got an 87 5mt hard top. head was redone with mhg and arp bolts 8000 miles ago. has 161,000 on the clock. stock besides a filter, 89 front bumper and soon to be custom 3" catback exhaust. fun car but i baby it most of the time (learned my lesson about boost with the last one). i have 245's all around and blown suspension so its not as fun as it should be right now. still fun in water and dirt though
