I have a question.

(I dunno if this is possible, but I don't think a mirror image mold can be created)

I have one sideskirt from a REAL bomex body kit.
the other sideskirt was destroyed by ups
I also have the back bumper.
But the kit is useless with one sideskirt missing,
And Bomex doesn't sell individual pieces

I know how to use the existing skidskirt as a mold to create a duplicate copy BUT the problem is I need to dulpicate one that is also a reversed/mirror image to go on the other side of the car......

Any clue as to how this can be done,
I'd be willing to pay a shop to do it if it's even possible.

other wise I'll be throwing out the other sideskirt

damn ups

thanks

if UPS broke it, have you contacted them about fixing the problem they created?
i agree

UPS broke one of my mirrors when i bought them and they paid for the return shipping and a new set of mirrors. I had the UPS operator on the phone as soon as i opened the package.

good luck with it :sadwavey:

oh forgot to add some more info.
after I filed the claim UPS came and took the part for inspection.

They said they'll cover the limit of the insurance in which case THEY get to keep the part!
but I can't have both!!!

so I took the money.
the other way I would have been screwed, cause THEY WANTED ME TO PAY FOR SHIPPING OF THE PART BACK!!!!! (THAT'S DOUBLE SHIPPING!)
can you belive that!?

They got to screw me cause they mailed the item back to the "shipper of reord"
(which was a UPS store) but they consider it another entity because they are independantly owned and operated

I filed a complaint to bitch, but I never heard from them. except BS form letter replies.

I never knew they would get to keep the part or that I would have to pay for shipping for the inpection otherwise I would have never let them com eand get it!
Had I know they were gonna screw me I would have paid for the repairs myself

here's a copy of the form letter I got from them

Dear xxx

Thank you for your response. As UPS handles all claims with the shipper
of record only, the claim information is not available to the receiver
or
a third party. If the shipper has any questions about the claim, they
will need to contact UPS directly.

We apologize that we are not able to provide you with the information
you
have requested. Please contact the person or company that shipped your
package for final resolution. If your package was shipped on your
behalf
through a Commercial Counter or Authorized Shipping Outlet that
location
is considered the shipper of record.

Thank you for using UPS Internet Services.

it's a stupid ass insurance policy
they won't cover the repair cause I quoted $125 to have it repaired and painted
(the whole Bomex kit was already painted black to match my car)

they said since thats the limit of the insurance, they will pay it, but then I won't get the part back
I have no friggin idea what the f#ck they will do with it :dunno: :dunno:
It's just so retarded, I will never use UPS again!

ok, well if you are wanting to mold you a new skirt then you need to do some reading. Fiberglass can be tricky to work with. It can also hurt you (yes, the resin when curing will actually get so hot it can leave 1st degree burns on you and melt your skin).

check out https://selectproducts.com/frames.html

That's where I purchase all of my supplies from (for a business that me and my buddies have on the side...custom body stuff and painting). They have "learn how to fiberglass" kits that you can buy. They come with all you need to get started plus a how-to DVD. You can by some of the other stuff you need at your local autoparts stores. They are really good people and have helped me out a thousand times with finding stuff that they didn't carry or general questions i've had.

however, you are going to spend alot more time and material money then you would if you just searched around town for a shop that can work fiberglass. You should of just kept the skirt and let a shop fix it. I can't believe that UPS fucked you like that. They should of given you money to fix it.
