Awhile back someone posted there were "several" guys running this set-up, but I haven't been able to find any examples.

I'm considering trying it but would like to see or hear about how it turned out for someone else.
Thx

Why? The wheelwells of the MKIV are the same diameter front and rear. Staggering the wheel size will look weird. The front sidewall height will be taller than the rear sidewall height. Save the staggered wheels setups for cars that are made for them---Vettes, Vipers, NSXs, etc.

Your point that the wheelwell diameter meaures the same front/rear is a very good one. But somehow to my eye, my 285/35/19 on the rear fills out the wheelwell nicely and looks great, but the 19's up front for me look like too much wheel and too little rubber.

As far as side-wall height looking matched, that's really exactly what I'm after! My 285/35/19 rears give a height of 3.9" (and yes a speedo error of 7%) but the 235/35/19 on front are only 3.2". If I had a 245/40/18 up front, that would give a matching 3.9" sidewall. To get a 3.9" sidewall up front on 19" wheels, I'd have to go to a 245/40/19 and I'm sure that would rub something.

I'm pretty sure that I would like the look of 18F/19R a lot. I know it is a very unusual idea, but I thought probably somebody had tried it.

Thanks for your feedback. I've already ordered my 18" x 4 replacements; so I'd cause myself some extra headache going with the stagger anyway.

If anything I would do a reverse stagger to get a DR on the back.
I like the reverse stagger when its because a big-power car really must have the meaty DRs back there, but my car won't ever be going past BPU, so I'll be fine for traction with 18 or 19".

FirstState's car does look great, but I woulda guessed 700+whp seeing that setup on the street!

Well, part of the problem is that you are spec'ing some extremely tall tires. You may experience rubbing with a 35-series tire in a 19" fitment. Instead of running an 18/19 combo, why not just run an 18/18 combo? Run the 245/40/18 in front and a 285 or 295/35/18 in the rear. That would keep the overall diameter and the sidewall height the same front to rear.

...but it looks silly. If a big-power car needs a 17" drag radial in the rear, why not simply run a matching 17" wheel in the front?

Yeah after I posted those comments I saw it was you Brian, with the QS I would leave it BPU or less as well.
Hey I just saw your wheels post over at CRN....hard to beat those Classics. Pretty funny that we're both getting the itch to change wheels at the same time - I'm about to list mine up over there too.

What did you end up with?
I've just ordered the same SSR SP1 Professors in 18" to replace the 19". But I've got no tires on my 19" so I'm driving on the stock wheels for another 6 weeks. Your next set picked out yet?

What offsets did you order on the SSR's? Are those 19" SP1's in your sig? and you just ordered 18's?

Yes those are 19s in my sig. I expect to sell them but might wait to list til I have the new 18s in hand in another 2-4 weeks. The 19s are all 49 offset, the new 18s will be 49 rear and 37 front

Clapyohandz- do you have a side profile pic?

I've currently got my stock wheels on my car for the winter but usually have my 19" axis hiros on. I'm pretty happy with the look but I'm not very happy with the tire sizes avalible for 19x8.5 in the front. Depending on how it looks, I'd like to change over to 18x8.5 with the same 35 aspec ratio so my tires don't rub on the inner fenderwell and I would think that it would give the car a little bit of a front slant giving it a more aggressive stance. I do plan on getting new rear wheels and going with 19x10.5 so I can run a 305 or 315 tire. I don't run the power to need a tire like that but it would look pretty mean and it will have a bit deeper lip.
