I was just wondering if you guys had Idle problems and what compression numbers you posted.

I have a feeling the compression numbers that I'm getting and the idle problems are normal.

Idle is due to a MAP system that cannot handle cams by design (all MAP based GM's have this same problem)

Also, I want to know what kind of compression numbers you guys are seeing!

This will help me in understanding the cams that I have and for the group buy.

Thanks,

I have HKS 264 1JZ cams w/ GM 3 map sensor and my car won't idle right. I also have AEM. How do I get rid of my idle problem?

well you should be able to with an AEM but for the stock ecu guys what ruggy told me and it makes sense is they drill a little hole in the butterfly to let more air in like 7/32....

This lets more air in to lean out the super rich mixture that is already there...

What kind of compression do you have on the 264's? Do you have 1jz 264s or HKS2jz 264s?

I do have AEM, so idling is not really a problem. But I do have a small hole in my TB butteryfly because with the cams have almost no vaccum. I have some pics of it, give me a minuta and I will post it.

Here is the spec on the 2jz cams

256 264 272 280
Atdc 113 113 113 113

0mm 274 282 290 302

Hope this helps

In the past with big cams I have used the adjustment on the Throtle plate stop to open it slightly and adjust the TPS to account for the change. I have had 320 duration cams in RGs with the stock efi system and it worked fine. Also did the same with a TRD stage 3 cam in a 22RE and it even passed smog in Calif. Granted both of these are not Map based but they might be worse with the air meter door style efi. I had the 2J US cams in mine and the idle was a little lumppy but it idled just fine.

Very slight but it was there. Also running 550s at the time. Also no fuel correction.

I got stock 2JZ cams, w/ ~55k or 35k as I recall. They were from Braddman (moderator).

PM me for more info.

Zazzn, let me know about the cams... I'm in no hurry since I have to change manifolds...
