Are GTE VVTi and Non VVTi Cam and Crank SENSORS Interchangable? I'm curious because the cam and crank sensors look pretty similar but am not sure.

The crank sensor looks identical.

There is obviously only one cam sensor, but even the cam sensor has some very subtle differences (mostly the connector).

The reason I ask is I fucked up and got the crank sensors mixed up and installed my old cam sensor and I wanted to be sure. I'm using an AEM infinity ECU by the way.

Thanks!

Are you certain they are interchangeable ? Im pretty sure the number of splines / gears are different and will not work.

Not sure on the cam sensors.

They are both interchangeable. The crank gear is not.

Make sure your noise settings are around 10 for both on the infinity or you will get errors.

Has anyone else used the non vvti sensors on the vvti? I'm kinda hearing different things from different people. I hear the crank sensors are different but look the same. I just am curious of the part number for the vvti sensor. I guess I could call Elmhurst. Did anyone use the cam sensor from a non vvti on the vvti?

I have used the GTE non VVTi sensors (Cam and crank) on GTE VVTi cars with no problem. The crank sensor has a different part number but it is essentially the same if I recall.
Obviously the crank gear (12 vs 36) is different.

Tuned multiple setups like this on ProEFI.

My VVTi build used a new non VVT-i stock crank sensor and the stock cam sensor on the VVT-i head/36-2 crank wheel. Tested resistance and both are in spec. Works great on the Infinity.

Awesome! Good to know. FYI the non vvti crank sensor is part number 90919-05006. Not sure on the vvti crank sensor.

So both cam and crank sensors have different part numbers....few.

Sounds like they both will work.

The crank sensor have different impedance depending if they are vvti or non-vvti. Both might work, but my AEM V2 worked better with the vvti one.
