I have a two-part question…

First when using ARP head bolts do they always need to be re torqued after a thousand miles of boosting. I’ve been told that ARP tend to stretch under boost, and to re-torque them would be a good idea. Secondly… what is the proper procedure to re-torque head bolts. Is it necessary to loosen the bolt, and then torque them down to the appropriate weight. Excuse my ignorance…

Thank you,

Joey

Mine loosened after 500. Check then and at 1000 again. You can just tighten them again in the correct order. However, loosening them then retightening them will give you a better reading. Do them one by one in the TSRM order.

Just FYI, boost isn't what would stretch them. It's the expansion (when it warms up) and contraction (cools) that causes the stretching/settling in.
