You want to tap into the gray plug on the top of the lighter. This provides power only when the lights are on. I would use some "quick tap" crimps to tap into the wires. I can't remember the colors though, but if you post the colors I might remember which one is positive. I wish I saw this post eariler because I spent hafe the day with the dash torn apart putting in a Profec B.

good luck.

any links where to buy those guages from?
I would choose a new ground though. I had problems with the lights flashing in and out when I used the one used by the cigaretter lighter.

Maybe I should have specified that i've been using those instructions. I've had no problems, EXCEPT FOR THE CONNECTION OF THE GROUND AND POWER WIRES! Next time read my posts before making smart ass comments that aren't needed. :D  :D

Qualen, what do you suggest?

I'm still waiting on someone to inform me about proper way to connect the power and ground wires. I know where, I don't know how. Please help and don't just be a smartass.:D :p
I followed the same directions but used the screw supporting the radio as ground.
How did you connect the power wire?
If you still have the dash apart just connect the negative to the metal dash connectors behind the dimmers switch panel and then tie the positive into the dimmer swicth on the undimmed positive wire. I want to say the color is white with and orange stripe. Just plug the positive wire into all three wires till you get the indiglos on solid (make sure when you are doing this that the dimmer is not plugged in.....Hope this helps...I have done it on all the cars that I have owned including the supra and it works great. Just make sure you get a good connection on the positive wire. Using a wire tap works the best.

Adam, You should not have to make another ground to the chasi of the car. Connect positive (red) of power to "green/yellow" wire and Ground (black) to "green/white" wire of cigarette lighter light plug. These are the colors for my '94 TT, others might be different. Also if you have the dimmer turned down, it will flicker depending on how dim the dimmer is set at. It flashes because the dimmer decreases voltage to the transformer and when it drops past a certain point, it will flicker the gauges. Note: Do NOT tap power for transformer into the stereo illumination wire, it may induce unwanted high pitch noise from transformer. My car is a '94TT and the wiring for your car should be the same colors.

I hope this helps,
Larry
That is why i said to tap into the solid UNDIMMED wire if you would have read the post. It turns on the gauges when the lights are one but does not dim them therefore avoiding flickering. The reason I said to place the ground by the dimmer switch is because there is a nice 10mm bolt that goes right into the frame of the car to provide constant negative power and to keep the connections for the indiglos all in one spot....so to reiterate how to connect the postivie just tap into the WHITE-ORANGE constant undimmed wire from the dimmer switch...If you do it this way you will have no problems....I have done it several times and worked for me every time.

I installed my 5 color indiglo gauges saturday night. They look great. Just get a nife and hardwire + and - to the cigarette lighter man. Piece of cake. If i did it, you can do it. Im mechanically deprived. Took me 3 hours to hook up the damn thing.
