What was the difference between the premium audio and just the regular? I had a 91 with regular and had 6 speakers, no amp. My 92 has the 6 speakers with amp. Was the amp the only thing 'premium' about it?

Well, being that it's 20 years old I don't think there will be anything "premium" about either. But I think the premium came with a 11 speaker system including subwoofer. I could be way off in left field with that one though. I don't pay attention to factory radio since they are never worth much anyways.

i saw there could be more speakers but where would they be located?

Best bet if you want a good system is to make your own pods, enclosures, and run your own wiring. I make all my installs completely separate from and factory wiring other than power for the head unit. Two 10s or a single 12 would sound best IMO do to cabin volume.
