·On a 98' automatic TT (which is all I can speak for) the driver has the option of flipping through the gears with the manual button on or off.
I called Toyota to see what exactly the manual button was for and they said it was for snow driving. With the manual button depressed the car can launch from a stop in second gear without dropping to first...for taking off with less wheelspin.
I just want to know if the "ECT i" feature is the same thing as manual mode and if anyone feels like it really makes a difference with the button on or off? Do the modes effect wear differently or mechanically change the way the tranny shifts?
I cannot tell a difference either way...
