Bad BOV??? How much vacumn is required to open a stock one?

433 Views 6 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  blackbird
I replaced all the vacumn hoses going to my stock BOV...I also did the "test" to make sure that it was workings...it appears not to be opening...how much vacumn is required to make it open? would sucking on it make it open?

Thanks,
Brent

Before you go around sucking on stuff.... ;) I'll sell you mine for $2, it works fine.
k thanks Ryan...
If you can blow threw the BOV than it bad. When they go bad the valve usually get stuck open.

ok well I can't blow through it...just can't seem to get it to open...and open one isn't that bad right? just no boost...but a closed one will cause damage to the turbo's when the throttle plate closes right?

Go to AutoZone or somewhere like that and pick up a break bleeder kit that has a manual vacuum pump with it. Use it to apply vacuum to the BOV. It’s imposable to do your self you cant create enough vacuum.

I have never heard of them not opening. Unless there is a vacuum leak some where.
